Andy Cook is not going to Barrow, but Barrow's club shop opens on Friday

IF it’s true , he’ll start games at Barrow as I have a feeling he’s going to be a benchwarming impact sub this season for us. Also IF true we have a ready replacement lined up and waiting.

Not saying its happened here but it does happen! Players can agree moves subject to medical. Most are a formality anyway.

 

You know what Rog, I kind of agree with you. I like Cook and think he's a very able striker but as long as we replace him then I'm 100% happy to trust Mark Hughes on this. After all, Hughes has forgotten more about the art of goalscoring than Cook could ever know.

I'm relaxed about this.

He does. But Richie, Chappers and Timi are in there now so a bit of a squeeze for the big man.

 

Two hours 25 mins on my phone and 90 miles. That's assuming clear traffic. It could take an hour to get from Apperley Bridge to Skipton. It might be shorter in theory but in reality Barrow is a two hat of a place to get to.

We went to Beccles last year, Google maps said 4 and a bit hours and it took us 8. Kendal to Barrow is very much like Kings Lynn To Norwich. The road that never ends.

 

If he goes so be it, I'd prefer a lean motivated Cookie with the likes of Walker and Chapman around him to stay.
However, what are we left with if he goes, a decent forward in Angol but you're only likely to get 20games out of him.
And two unknowns, it'd be a big gamble rolling with them for a full season.
So we would need to have a adequate/better replacement lined up.

A striker proven in leagues above in his 20's, if under contract he's going to cost us money ( yeah right), if out of contract we're not seriously going to complete with clubs above for the gold dust that all clubs chase.
So perhaps Championship striker, early 30's, a Peter Thorne ...maybe.. lets see

I cant see it myself knowing how Rupp likes to guard the purse strings, If anything feel we are lacking a bit of beef and experience up top and Cook provides that and gives a decent goal return. Had his injury problems but if he does move feel he is better than Barrow, been there done that, his experience and record in this league would be hard to replace

Not sure why, but the opinion of many on here about these footballers who are leaving, after getting us to 14th in League Two, is ridiculous.

They haven't turned into Messi just because they are leaving. They're bang average footballers and there are hundreds out there.

 

You should go visit the north midlands

 

We lived in Bedford for two years and it took hours to get to Hunstanton from there and that was only a spit away

 

As bang average a league 2 striker as you will see. Has never been promoted above national League level. Willing grafter that's about it.
