Only saw him at home to Blackpool, don't want to slag him off but he played like a man with zero confidence. Nothing he did worked, passes were awful. Yet strangely, I believe it was almost all down to lack of confidence and not lack of ability. We will see.

 

Not sure he can be judged on last season tbh. His confidence looked shot and does need a proper pre-season before we can decide if he is good enough. He should have enough at League 2 level but I'm a bit worried if he's going to be starting games in centre midfield.

 

Diet? Did you see the six pack under his shirt? I agree he lacks effort but I doubt he is overweight.

 

Butterfield offered less than Anderson...!

 

Fordy have a bit of faith in Bowyer mate. Both Divine and Anderson have got ability in them, Gary Bowyer obviously feels he can bring it out of them both.
If he doesn't do that THEN we have a go and say I told you so.
Remember where we are, back in the bottom tier.

 

so Fordy, I've lost count, refresh my memory please. How many players do we have who are either sh$te or utter sh$te?

 

I hope he benefits from a good pre season and does well. He obviously had something about him earlier in his career and went through some injuries. Perhaps he'll benefit from a season in league two and kick on. If he doesn't it's only been a year's contract. Good luck to him.

By chance I was listening to his show the day we signed Anderson. He was reading transfers made that day and followed the announcement of Anderson by commenting how bad his injuries had been but how highly he rated him as a player and person.

Ok, nothing depth but distinctly remember it.

 

I work with a Peterborough fan who's level headed (he's bemused by their fans who believe Marriott is lazy and inconsistent rather than clearly by far their most dangerous player for the last 2-3 years... for reference see Daley / Marshall / Future Ismael for example ) and he says they thought he was going all the way... to the Championship at least.

You never know after a long injury but he only seemed to be getting stronger and he didn't seem shy of a challenge or the usual other signs of someone struggling to get back where they were

 

It’s an interesting one. I’ve seen and played with strikers who try to do everything and close everything down. Sometimes I thought why are you doing that as the defence just passed it past him. A few times he will chase things down the wing but wouldn’t be in the centre for the cross. Effort is needed in all players but clever effort. He would get clapped off for putting 100% after 65 mins but you’d rather he’d be there for the full 90 and be there in the box when the ball came in. Therefore sometimes I prefer ‘lazy’ strikers

Well I hope you're right because if he plays like last season he'll be a waste of a wage.

 

Actually, you said Butterfield contributed less than Anderson.

Yet all the majority remember from Anderson was none existent and uninspiring performances. Butterfield, meanwhile had 2 man of the match awards and a winning goal that bagged us 3 points.

I really shouldn't have to point that out to you if you've actually been watching the games.

 

How many goals did Darby score in his career? But how many times did he clear off the line/make last ditch tackles? Scoring a winning goal or “bagging us 3pts” doesn’t necessarily mean his contribution is greater. Surely I shouldn’t need to point this out to you?

The fact remains that Bowyer chose Anderson over him, so clearly thought his contribution to the team was greater

 

Both as a bad as each other really. @NorthernMonkey must of quoted 4 of my posts on the bounce in different threads, if you look for a slanging match on here then you'll probably get one.

As for Anderson, said it before he's going to have a good season.
