Agree Olly. As I said weeks ago on another thread, when Jermaine arrived he had been injured, had very little game time and was a bit off physical and match fitness and a bit oversight.
He improved with game time and with a hard pre season lets see.and give the lad a chance.

Could be good . Good preseason and fully fit we might just have a decent player here for me he started to show a bit in the last few games as his fitness started improving.

Er, isn't league two worse than league one or have I missed the point?

I agree with this. He had a few games where he couldn’t trap a bag of cement, but the last few games he improved.

Still needs to improve going into next season though to have an impact.

His fitness will have been an issue last season as he didn’t play much before he came to us, so effectively he had to have another preseason bedding in the first 4-5 weeks (where some of his performances were dreadful granted) but after that he didn’t look too bad. However by that point people had already formed their opinion of him so he was on a hiding to nothing really.

He didn’t have a good game at Oxford at all. However at the end he had the balls to come over to the crowd and acknowledge them. In hindsight on the day probably not the best decision, however I see some character in him.

I like the young lad & very much ok with him signing on. I think/hope we’ll see a much improved Anderson next season.

Good signing for me. He improved and looked more of a physical presence. Bowyer, might play him wide and if he carries on the improvement, he'll be one unit which at least should stop the full back attacking as much.

The problem is we have fans who basically give players about six matches and if they've averaged five out of ten or below, they are apparently rubbish.

If they were in charge, goodness knows where Gareth Bale or Jamie Vardy would be now, given their dubious starts to their Spurs and Leicester careers respectively

And before anyone says anything, I'm not comparing Anderson to them two - but saying it takes some players a while to settle in

He is with a manager who believes in him and trusts him. That will mean a lot

Fans are fickle, a few good games and they will be back on side. Anderson will know that

Central midfield remains our weakest area so far

Still believe that had O’Brien stuck around and stayed fit, we would have remained a L1 side

You're under the impression that players take notice of mindless booing / jeering. The mentally tough ones don't - maybe he's one of these. Hence, why Bowyer signed him

Unless they've had an absolute mare, where they are more or less soley responsible for the defeat - I've never ever in 40 years of supporting understood why anyone booing a player thinks it has an effect. I assume they think it's going to help them understand how annoyed the fan(s) are with them and help them improve. Rarely does shouting at someone improve any of their 'work'

We’ll be fine - it doesn’t look like we’ll be using a midfield next season.

I agree with your comment about Akpan and the need for us to sign someone to partner Anderson. However, Butterfield was very poor, despite dropping down a level.

Anderson is not a playmaker. That said, he does need to show more of what is expected from him. None of our midfielders last season knew how to tackle or bust a gut to track back. That has got to be fixed this season.

We need someone like Jay Spearing, David Vaughan or even Glen Whelan. Tough, niggly players that get under the skin of other teams. Actually, someone like Tony McMahon, but played in front of the back four and not on the right of midfield

FFS please stop this. It's just a matter of personal opinion and neither of you is going convince the other to change their opinion. It's getting really tedious.

Agree, I think he looked like he was running into a bit of form last few matches. Good pre season and we might well have a decent player.

Same as I posted about Anderson in another thread and this will probably get quoted when he fails miserably but I believe he will come good. Never played below league one and had a lot of interest around him from big clubs a few years ago.

The lads had two very unfortunate serious injuries, if he can get a bit of fitness behind him I think he could come good.

I think there is definitely a decent player in there, especially for 4th tier.
I trust Bowyer to get the best out of him next season. He did show glimpses in the last few games.

You hit the nail on the head mate, we need to trust Bowyer. Give him chance to turn things around. Any new manager is a gamble but to me Gary Bowyer is as good a choice as anybody else out there.
Even though a lot of fans (including me) were disappointed with Anderson when he came to us, at only 23 with the games he has played, there is obviously a decent player there.
Quite a lot of fans are of the "glass half empty" persuasion (I am when it comes to beer)! They are harder to win over. The signings so far and the players rumoured to be in the pipeline give me confidence in Gary Bowyer and hope for the future.

I was taking the piss. Someone earlier on in the year equated Akpans "laziness" to the fact he was Afro Caribbean/Nigerian or some other such generalisation.
However, having spent some time living in Caribbean, I can definitely vouch that life is lived at a lot slower pace than the UK - so there lies relevance of some sorts.
