What’s the obsession with a fans’ forum? I don’t want know nowt customers who struggle to string a coherent sentence together coming in and telling me how to run my business. Fine, grumble about the pies or the crap beer, but apart from the small things, what constructive solutions are going to come out of a forum? We want success? Edin was a know nothing dreamer? Anybody who has eyes and ears and works for Bradford City knows this. Let them get on with it and work out the solutions. Seriously, what are half of the wet wipes on here going to tell Rhodes and Rupp that’ll make them say oooh you know what, we didn’t think of that? Nowt.

You've only to read this thread to get a gauge of how passions run deep at our club,. Even the guys with many seasons of support under their belts, saying they've had enough. I do suspect they'll be back

Like a lot on here, I no longer live in the Bradford Area and I would have no reason to visit the City itself, if it wasn’t for Bradford City.

I guess my affinity is not limited to the current football team, who usually have a short time at the club before moving on. None of the current squad have progressed through the youth system (Devine appears to have totally stalled) and l anticipate that Butterfield the only local born player, will be off at the end of the season.

The surviving owner of the club is an anonymous German, who appears to have been ‘suckered’ by his banker into buying the club. Apparently he has little interest in football and no historic connection with Bradford City.

So living away from Bradford for virtually all my adult life, then I could have drifted off (hell Man City are only ‘up the road’).

I guess my affinity is to a sense of belonging. It is where I am from, if no longer living there. A sense of identity, roots and origins.

When I visit, I see a number of friends who I would lose touch with otherwise. Go into a City Centre pub, again something l would rarely do now a days.

Family who come with me, all live out of the area, and away from me, so it is an opportunity to get together with them and also visit relatives who live in the area.

Yes the football is totally depressing at the moment, and the club is still reeling from the toxic reign of Rahic.

However what we have experienced, is far less than some clubs, such as Blackpool. A huge number stopped going when the Oyston’s were there. So to lose an affinity because we are in a ‘bad place’ at the moment, seems very sad to me.

We are not a ‘champagne’ club, which is virtually guaranteed success, but one based on gritty reality. So when the ‘good times’ come, they feel even better.

While the club is in the football league and l am well enough to go, then l will. Yes l guess l will from time to time have a moan, because that is all part of life.

So I have renewed my Season Ticket, as l am not going to quit, because we are performing so poorly. This season is probably finished now, we need a huge clear out and to slowly but surely rebuild on the pitch. That is more likely to happen if the support remains reasonable.

Look forward, to the future, as you never know for sure, what it holds.

[QUOTEMembers="Rogered Tart, post: 185510, member: 217"]Forgive me if i don't share your enthusiasm for league 2 football. It took us years of god awful football before we got out of there last time. Certainly ain't raring to go to a home game against the likes of Cambridge or Forest Green, no disrespect to them.[/QUOTE]

Personally I don't think the football will be any different to the football City play, we should feel right at home, I have watched City since 1967 and for most of that time have watched then in the lower reaches, very little to cheer about, because we have a couple of bad seasons you are all throwing your teddies out of your cots, you either support City or you don't Thats football!. Simples...

Completely agree with the OP with regards to a loss of connection between the club and the fans.

There’s nobody at the club who genuinely cares about our fortunes apart from Julian, they’re either at BCFC to collect a wage or simply stuck with nowhere to go.

One way to repair that connection would be to do everything we can to persuade Stuart McCall to come back in the summer, give him the tools and resources to build his own team and give him guarantees of a FULL season in charge. He deserves a proper bite of the cherry.

At the end of the 62-63 season we fretted that City might go out of the league having finished 23rd in Division 4 and seeking re-election. The board had faith in the manager and next season City narrowly missed promotion, choking in front of a big home crowd against Workington.
We'll be down for the Blackpool match, our last of this season, and will continue to support Bradford City, as we have done through all the ups and downs of the past 60 years.

Totally get this - I thought it was just me.

My Dad first started taking me to City in the 1980’s. His interest waned and I was old enough to start going on my own.

I would have never missed City for love nor money, and even turned down jobs that involved weekend working as I didn’t want to miss City.

Fast forward a few years and I have kids of my own. I take them to games and we’ve loved it.

However the tearing apart of what was a stable club has caused it to lose its soul.

I no longer have the affinity either as you quite rightly say. If we lose it doesn’t ruin my weekend. I don’t care anymore. I’ve missed more games this season than in any season for the last 32 years and often decided to do other things on a Saturday or midweek evening.

The club is a shell of its former proud self.

I am very close to not renewing the family’s season tickets next year. I don’t recognise Bradford City anymore. We are a disgrace and it will take years for us to recover all because of one man.

Basically it’s all shit on the pitch and in the stands. I take my hat off to those people behind the scenes trying to rebuild our club - a rebuild that should not have been necessary. We had it all - a good stable club and we threw it all away.

Yet you still feel bothered enough to come on this forum to express your feelings. You still love the club enough to bother to post on here.

Good post but I don't understand the shit in the stands comment, without doubt the players should be doing much better, but even though many fans have missed games this season the ones who have attended have given the players their vocal support.
It's been a disaster behind the scenes within the club and even more disastrous on the pitch but apart from the odd game once again Bradford City fans have got behind their/our club we should never forget that, no fans no club.
The old adage use it or lose it.

    Top post Big Rod.

This is the life as a Bradford City fan.

No affinity with the club?? Does that really matter? Yes we all love to know what's happening, communication from the club would be good but with the modern day of social media whatever they put out now would be taken totally out of content and used against them. They released details of season ticket deadlines etc yesterday and they got barrage of abuse. Is it worth it? We are in a position at the moment were results ONLY matter and they aren't happening.

No connection with the players?? They come and go so easily these days that I don't even think that's an issue anymore. Gone are the days when you have a player for 7/8/9 years making 400 appearances, it's the way the game has gone.

I even think all this talk of moaning and groaning in the ground is overinflated. We all love a good moan, even during the good times, but fans especially the ones that have been going for years almost accept that this is what happens to us and lower league sides. Yes we shout and get frustrated by what happens on the pitch but I think the acceptance with what will probably happen has been realised for months now.

See, people were open to 'investment' and moving the club on, striving for the Championship, paying more money for players etc etc etc, but ACTUALLY all people want us a team with character that they believe in.

    How about that ?

If they get that in a team in League 2 would that be ok? Players playing for the shirt, giving 110% week in week out but not being good enough to get out of League 2 - would fans be happy?

Now is the time to stand up and be counted. The clue is in the word supporter?. If the club were asking £300-£400 for a season ticket, then I could understand the reluctance to buy, but at £150. Who ever owns the club now or in the future, will need our support. nothing will be accomplished by not Buying a season ticket. We have all had the good times on the cheap, so lets pay the club back when they need us. Affinity doesn't just appear when we are winning. a lot of the lower league clubs go through cycles in their existence. We are just starting our next one. Would we not all rally round if there was a threat of going out of business, so lets rally round now to stop potential situation becoming a reality. Show your affinity now please

I'd say achievement is not the be all and end all.

Actually liking the characters and enjoying the games matters more.

    But ideally, BOTH!
