Adams & Sparks out!

I tell you what mate, if I ever get into any trouble I hope my lawyer is as good at making exuses for me as you are for Adams. Jesus christ.

Let me break it down a little for you.

Turnbull identified players. Derek agreed to sign them. Therefore they are equally to blame if a signing goes wrong.

Turnbull was let go because a) Derek wanted his own men and b) Turnbull's scope of identification was smaller than McCall and his ipad.

Under this 'new' setup, the only thing that has changed is who does Turnbull's role. Its now down to three rather than one and you'd assume they're better at their job than Turnbull was.

In the same way, when they come to Derek with a player and he agrees to sign them, if it goes tits up, Derek and whichever one of the three scouts who identified him, are equally to blame.

 

All well and good, but why did he give T&S permanent contracts if he knew he wanted Adams in and could get him in the summer ? All smacks of Sparks not knowing his arse from his elbow,

 

Parky worked under a chief scout who did all the identification for him in the same way Turnbull had been doing.

you think a scout can work as a recruitment director?

 

The appointment was already in progress before McCall went, he referred to it in interviews in the games leading up to him being sacked.

A DoF role is about much more than recruitment, it should be overseeing the scouting and analysis as part of that role, not the one doing it, it's an executive management position.

 

Blimey, it's almost like you are suggesting that recruitment is a team effort and not just on one person!

 

It's just a change in terminology. You can't have three recruitment directors can you?

 

As panned out with Turnbull he thought they would be easy to move internally when the time came.

As he was all in on Adams from meeting him he should have actually gone with his instinct and appointed him last December and not let T&S's good run of form delay his decision making.

 

Isn't that like saying the results are a team effort and not just the manager but who is that some want rid of... Adams

I cant remember that who was the chief scout at the time of Phil Parkinsons management, I remember Archie Christie being at the club but he didn't last long once Parky got his feet under the table.

why not? if its the exact same job role (it isn't) surely they can have the same titles? being the only Developer on a team doesn't make me a CTO does it?

I've no idea but it wasn't the only poor call by Ryan, extending Stuarts contract the sacking him a week or so later, promoting T&S and extending their contracts whilst pursuing Adams.

 

Morecambe would only let him go end of the season.

This is football. The manager always carries the can, you know this. Its easier to sack off a manager than it is a whole squad of players mid season.

 

should you sack off a manager just because you can? We've done that far too many times now.
