One thing that's easy to pick out here is the constant over focus on defence.

Adams sets us up too defensively, but worse than that, he BLAMES defenders every time we lose. He doesn't name and shame Gilliead for failing to score. He doesn't name and shame Vernam for missing umpteen chances. He praises that as part of our Xg. He says it's ace because we had 12 (very poor) shots on goal. Wonderful, huge success.

But when it comes to Canavan missing a single header, he's sacked. When it comes to FCD costing us a goal, he's dropped for Threlkeld.

This is reactionary rubbish at its finest, and selective blame and tactical blindness.

We've misfired literally ALL SEASON and Adams uses it to defend himself; but while we've signed a few cheap attackers as options, there's no out and out blame game.

It's like the man can only see errors in defence.

 

The same article also says he is probably their most successful manager of all time. Which begs the question after a very successful managerial career what is going wrong here. Over his time in management he has used the same tactic and it has brought results but here he either hasn’t got the players to suit it or the players don’t buy into it and he obviously hasn’t got a plan b. I think the last thing this club at this time is yet another change of manager, unfortunately after last nights effort and the=post match interview I think the club may be forced into one

 

I think a large proportion of the fanbase would agree with that. We wanted it to work. We wanted to give him time but it's getting harder and harder to justify it.

Probably the most informative thing posted in the entire thread. So we are not going to give him chance to regress to the mean? That would be just shy of automatics given the overall mean.

The 'nobody wants to buy us' argument won't wash any more. We know it's not true.

If Dagenham & Redbridge and Stevenage can get investment, I'm sure Bradford City can too.

I get that if you are going to be a leader, a belief in your vision and a certain amount of stubbornness to see it through is needed -- against perhaps initially poor results, and criticisms from the likes of us. But you also need a capacity for self-examination, and the ability to develop and refine your plan. We are not seeing that here. Nor are we being given any other reasons to take him to our hearts.

Billy Bass Unfortunately it seems it doesn't take a button for him to flap. He must be on the "motion setting". Anyone within 6 feet of him, and he's off. Cry me a river!

 

The key thing though is a credible offer isn’t it. Is there anybody out there that is going to find the money not only to buy the club but to provide funding in the long term.

 

Ultimately, if he keeps demanding £10-12m then there's less chance of a buyer.

Maybe only 8000 season ticket holders will force him to consider offers of £6-10m?
If he has to find £1m a season to fund it, then suddenly a £6m sale is more appealing.

It feels a lot like the end of Colin Todd's reign as manager in that it seems like the club have no inclination to sack their man but the fans are getting restless and want a change and we're set for a longwinded battle of attrition.

Personally, if I had to make a snap decision, I couldn't. On one hand I firmly believe that the reason we're in such a poor position is due to all of the flip-flopping and changing direction when it comes to the football strategy/philsophy of the club and as such, at some point we've got to put a stop to that and be prepared to take the rough with the smooth and for all his faults, Adams is the only one at the club who has a strong vision of how the playing side of the club should operate. On the other hand, it's tedious to watch, he really doesn't make it easy to like him or trust him and there will undoubtedly be an impact on ticket sales and subsequent playing budgets which diminishes the chance of success next season.

 

People not renewing will just mean a reduction in budget. I am not convinced that the quoted figures are accurate anyway

Or as I posted above returns don't always come in predictable or desirable sequences. Investing analogy but holds up well I think. Unfortunately Derek's demeanour and city fans clamour makes a buy and hold strategy less likely by the week, quite possibly to the detriment of longer term returns. Analogy over.

 

Transparency of the books would help but don’t think we’ll get the full transparency for over the years.
How much has Rupp put in other the years? How much has he taken out-McBurnie money, loan repayments, monthly fee to a hold co.
How much does he want and how many bids have there been?

i know there are some on here who argue it’s his business why should he be open? Well the majority of clubs are. You could also argue if he’s invested funds and is taking a return it’s fair as an investment but it’s not necessarily a proud custodian

 

As you say that was 3 years old and no offers were made silly figures were quoted because he didn’t want to sell. But if there is anyone series out there they must have the money to meet the asking price and if you want things to change money to throw away on players.

 

or he could go the other way and actually fund a promotion push because if he did pay £6m for it 5 years ago then I will be amazed if anyone bids near that ............... £6 million back then was for a decent league one side with gates of 17k+ with a fair few paying in one the day 6 gates nearing the 20k ..........what’s it now the season ticket sales hit the 13k mark but how many are actually turning up now ????? 8k ???? Hardly anyone buying match day tickets and we are nothing but a bang average league two side at best ?????
Sorry but if he’s after his original investment back then he’s gonna have to fork some money out to get it his £6 million target gets further away year after year .,.................lot of things have to go on in the summer to turn this club around sadly we will end up with false hopes and Derek at the helm which will continue to turn people away if we did have a top 5 budget this season then that’s gonna be cut even further now
