So deaths are going up from less than the number killed in DIY accidents a day to back over a 1,000 a day despite the AZ vaccine having 97% efficacy and 60% plus of the population being vaccinated (ah and the Indian variant being no more deadly than the Kent one). I suppose the next factoid you'll pick up of the internet is that Elvis is alive and living in sin with Lord Lucan.

And FYI, Bradford isn't even in the top 20 worst places for infection rises at the moment.

This is what was said about Sage predictions just nine days ago. Worst case scenario is 16,600 more in the next 13 months. Around 40 per day. Compare that to 460 daily deaths by heart attack, 450 by cancer, similar by stroke. 16 people a day die by suicide. Currently higher than Covid

Data suggest vaccines are working so well in the real world that mathematical modellers who advise SAGE have dramatically downgraded their bleak predictions of more than 100,000 further Covid deaths within the next year and a third wave of the virus to rival the first two.

Their total death toll projection – which is shown to the Prime Minister and has previously been criticised for being too downbeat – has fallen 10-fold since the start of the UK's vaccine rollout as studies proved the jabs will slow transmission of the virus.

A report published yesterday showed that real-world data accounting for vaccinated people being less likely to pass on the virus has been factored in to long-term estimates for the first time.

The Imperial College Covid-19 Response Team, some of the Government's top advisers whose work triggered the first national lockdown in March 2020, have now revised their worst-case death toll for England to 16,600 more between May 2021 and June 2022.

I've taken a very cautious approach to this virus, but I also have to disagree as well.

Firstly, it is unlikely we will ever become 100% COVID secure. However, there is growing evidence that, for a fully vaccinated person, the risk is very low, and quite possibly even lower than the risk from flu.

Yes, there will always be a risk of a new more dangerous variant coming along, which is good reason to ensure that everyone around the world is offered the vaccine as soon as possible, thereby reducing the number of variants that occur.

A lot of people have died from this virus and the threat has been very real. However, we now have a clear way out and we need to continue our return to normality. Yes, we need to move forwards cautiously at first (and that's what we are doing in the UK), and there is definitely a lot of confidence building to do across many parts of society, but I do think we can look forward to returning to Valley Parade in August.

Quite right. This will be a cyclical, endemic virus which will be with us forever and for which there are clearly going to be a continual string of variants. If we refuse to live 'normally' on the basis that a 'variant might become dangerous and evade the vaccine', we'll never get back to normal. Literally. Some people are incapable of escaping this grip of fear that's been enforced.

I don’t think anything has been guaranteed all these steps will only happen after a review of the previous step which is the right way to go.
The last thing we want is to open things up only to have to shut down again the foresight in securing these vaccines and the absolutely brilliant work of the medics and volunteers are giving us hope for a much better future starting later this year and hopefully a full live season starting August or September.
I also. Believe what we paid for the season ticket still gave us good value this season when many people now are paying £10 to watch matches

The roadmap is a realistic and genuine way out without giving too much. Boris has said loud and clear he wants everything he says on this road map to be deliverable, so I would say unless there is an unexpected massive upturn in infections, this will happen.

Let's hope come June that's the end of the whole lockdown affair.

No matter what we need to get on with life, we've shut down so much to protect the NHS and health services all over the world, now we've got the vaccines and if we need one every year ala flu, so be it, not much we can do to change that now.

    Time to crack on.

What are we, the fans, going to do to make that first fully opened home game special?

So what else is it based on ? Infections are the starting point. They keep coming down, so will deaths, so will hospitalisations. Infection is where it all starts.

This plan is clear, science led and very structured. It's going to take some drastic reversals now for it not to work, and if that happens its not a u-turn is it ? It's a re-alignment of plan. U-turn, if you want to. the lady's not for turning.

Its never going away, is it? We need to learn to live with it, amongst society. We can't keep going in circles.

Some won't be happy until the R value is zero and that will never happen. If we are going to wait for what ifs then we're never going to come out of lockdown and we cannot allow that to happen.

The season will culminate in the Sky Bet Play-Off Finals taking place at Wembley Stadium over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend 29-31 May 2021.

Well football does have lots of money, when premier league players, earn more in 1 week , than most earn in 10 years.
We all know though that the riches , will never be shared beyond the so called elite.

You may think that Fordy and I personally am no fan of Boris but this approach is also common sense.
The government as you quite rightly say will not want to be responsible for any industry but will also not want to be responsible for more mass deaths by opening things up too quickly.
By the way my car is in desperate need of a good washing and valeting, have you got a timetable yet for opening up (or are your staff working from home)?

Personally I think people should have the vaccine and also have a passport to say they have had it before they are allowed to work in a care home or hospital. I should imagine that would get challenged in court by the human rights brigade, Boris has just hinted at that when answering a journalist's question at the briefing.

I would go further and stop anyone who hadn't been vaccinated from going in pubs, hotels, aeroplanes and Valley Parade

Chalk and cheese, as you know during his time at City he has always made it known he was not one for the lime light, he left that to Richmond, Lawn, but you're correct fans being kept in ths picture (good or bad) is the way to go.

A fan zone would be ace. Instead of spending an hour in the pub before games, I'd spend it in the fan zone having a beer, watching clips of City highlights and hopefully with something to help keep the kids entertained. Money for the club, a better experience for me, and it'd be great to get the atmosphere going too.
