So deaths are going up from less than the number killed in DIY accidents a day to back over a 1,000 a day despite the AZ vaccine having 97% efficacy and 60% plus of the population being vaccinated (ah and the Indian variant being no more deadly than the Kent one). I suppose the next factoid you'll pick up of the internet is that Elvis is alive and living in sin with Lord Lucan.
And FYI, Bradford isn't even in the top 20 worst places for infection rises at the moment.
This is what was said about Sage predictions just nine days ago. Worst case scenario is 16,600 more in the next 13 months. Around 40 per day. Compare that to 460 daily deaths by heart attack, 450 by cancer, similar by stroke. 16 people a day die by suicide. Currently higher than Covid
Data suggest vaccines are working so well in the real world that mathematical modellers who advise SAGE have dramatically downgraded their bleak predictions of more than 100,000 further Covid deaths within the next year and a third wave of the virus to rival the first two.
Their total death toll projection – which is shown to the Prime Minister and has previously been criticised for being too downbeat – has fallen 10-fold since the start of the UK's vaccine rollout as studies proved the jabs will slow transmission of the virus.
A report published yesterday showed that real-world data accounting for vaccinated people being less likely to pass on the virus has been factored in to long-term estimates for the first time.
The Imperial College Covid-19 Response Team, some of the Government's top advisers whose work triggered the first national lockdown in March 2020, have now revised their worst-case death toll for England to 16,600 more between May 2021 and June 2022.

Firstly, it is unlikely we will ever become 100% COVID secure. However, there is growing evidence that, for a fully vaccinated person, the risk is very low, and quite possibly even lower than the risk from flu.
Yes, there will always be a risk of a new more dangerous variant coming along, which is good reason to ensure that everyone around the world is offered the vaccine as soon as possible, thereby reducing the number of variants that occur.
A lot of people have died from this virus and the threat has been very real. However, we now have a clear way out and we need to continue our return to normality. Yes, we need to move forwards cautiously at first (and that's what we are doing in the UK), and there is definitely a lot of confidence building to do across many parts of society, but I do think we can look forward to returning to Valley Parade in August.Stop hovering to collapse... The last thing we want is to open things up only to have to shut down again the foresight in securing these vaccines and the absolutely brilliant work of the medics and volunteers are giving us hope for a much better future starting later this year and hopefully a full live season starting August or September.
I also. Believe what we paid for the season ticket still gave us good value this season when many people now are paying £10 to watch matchesStop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Chrisako and Old Grey Fox like this. -

No matter what we need to get on with life, we've shut down so much to protect the NHS and health services all over the world, now we've got the vaccines and if we need one every year ala flu, so be it, not much we can do to change that now.
Time to crack on.

This plan is clear, science led and very structured. It's going to take some drastic reversals now for it not to work, and if that happens its not a u-turn is it ? It's a re-alignment of plan. U-turn, if you want to. the lady's not for turning.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Wakefield Bantam and Bronco like this. -

The government as you quite rightly say will not want to be responsible for any industry but will also not want to be responsible for more mass deaths by opening things up too quickly.
By the way my car is in desperate need of a good washing and valeting, have you got a timetable yet for opening up (or are your staff working from home)?Ulysses S Grant and Bronco like this. -
