A case for the defence

I predict Paudie will be playing in league one next season.

 

He’s rubbish like R O’D not sure how anyone could want either as first choice next season. Imagine if we brought in someone who’d been dropped by Colchester who we didn’t know, the forum would be up in arms.

 

Come on man, remember Matty Bates & Jason Gavin ?

 

He's a decent second choice keeper. That's what he needs to be next season.

One of sutton or watt has to go. 2 years of evidence that those two together in a midfield will get you spanked every game

 

Not replacing Canavan was the bad business. Let's be honest he had been poor for a while.

I see he was sent off last night for pulling back a 37 year old striker who had outpaced him.

To be honest I didn't think he was playing or hasn't been, and is out of contract. Someone of that ilk. thing is they quite often are happy being paid a lot to be third choice

 

As if we haven’t seen that before.. I’m well and truly shocked that some other team have just realised he has the turning circle of the QE2

 

I'm kind of assuming we get a League Two cast off between the sticks for next season?

That or a lad on loan.

 

We did that this season, so I’d say suppose it depends on ambition. If a decent league 1 keeper is struggling to get a game maybe we could scout one of them, if not a decent rated youngster from higher up is the way I’d go. We need to make good contacts higher up, if Accrington can gets loans from the likes of Chelsea then there’s no excuse. Playing in front of 15,000 should be a big draw for a club loaning out a youngster to see if they can handle a big crowd pressure, yet our little black book doesn’t seem to reach very far. My only hope is Sparky brings a more professional and wide reaching outlook to proceedings. As always proof will be in the pudding, Rupp and Sparks really are drinking at last chance saloon now. If this doesn’t work even the more tame supporters I can see finally having enough then there’s nowhere to go from there.

 

Sparky will have contacts in the game that Adams could only (wet) dream about.

Case dismissed. We have no defence. Keep Hendrie and Foulds (as squad members) and bin the rest. We need competent, no nonsense centre halves.

 

Paudie is the epitome of the Lg 2 centre half- brave, full of blood and guts endeavour but has poor decision making and positional sense. If we want to rise higher, we must sign better. Brutal but true. We can't continue to say various of our players are ok or pretty good. Often on here, peeps say so and so isn't brilliant but we should keep them as a squad players. No - stop it! We need quality to get us out of this dreadful division and then get us out of Lg 1 asap.

 

Been saying this for nearly two years but there are a lot of people who will still back Paudie, Watt, Cooke, Cook, Sutton, Gilliead, FCD, Staunton, Vernam etc to come good under different management, or with more experience or with better players around them. They won't.

 

I would keep Staunton, Cousin Dawson, Scales, Charlie Adams et al to develop, and get rid of everyone else. EVERYONE.
