25 Year 'Season Tickets' (Now with Suites Poll)

They don’t get it do they? Or, most likely, they do, and like a politician, avoid answering the question asked.

 

I don't have a 25 year season ticket so no axe to grind but it does seem like the club are really sending out mixed messages and don't know how much they are pissing people off......

They are clearly contradicting themselves.

From the website Q&As as posted:



It says paying for a season ticket and a 'FREE' suite upgrade.

Then you have the Head of Ticketing, Marco Townson, saying something completely different:

"As you may know, the price of the suite upgrade has been £120 for several years, which is also reflective of the offer the club made to 25 year-season ticket holders.

However, due to rising costs of energy, maintenance, and other security and operational expenses, we have taken the decision to increase the price to £180 per season, starting from next season. This increase will also allow us to invest in the suites, and as a result, improve their standard – while supporting our move to freeze season ticket prices for the third-consecutive season, providing the second-cheapest season ticket in the EFL."

As they have publicly stated it's a FREE upgrade on the website I'm not sure where they stand against the Trades Description Act? False advertising?

If they want rid of the 25 yearers, surely sit down with them and say we're going to make you an offer, here's £X for the remainder and it's finished....especially if turnover exceeds £8 million, a drop in the ocean....

 

Well said. Some people hate us 25 years, (don’t know why, we are all city fans?), but it’s all about principle, we are not freeloaders. Look, I can easily afford the extra, but yes, they are pissing me off big time.

I paid by cheque and have never set foot in a suite. I've no idea what is in them except that they look drab through the door window.

I got - and still have - a book of vouchers for each season and remember nothing about continuity being specified. You redeemed a voucher each year for a season ticket for the year printed on the voucher, though they stopped bothering taking them when it all became more computerised. (I kept offering.) I understood missing a year (illness, sabatical, whatever), or transferring or selling the voucher to someone else, was permitted and did not nullify subsequent vouchers. Anyone that still has vouchers should be able to use them regardless of whether they miss a season or not. That's what I understand as my "grandfathered" (custom and practice) rights. I might add that each voucher also allowed you to switch seats. The voucher asked if you wanted to retain the same seat or switch to a different one each season. It cautions that you could lose your seat if it was not renewed in line with deadlines for others - but that refers to the specific seat chosen and not the season ticket.

Having said all that, they can drop them for me. I'm grateful to have a club that brings cheap football to the masses and I'm sick of being treated as some kind of scrounger when I put over a grand into home tickets and kiosk food each year and have brought lots of people to the club over decades. Now whose backside do I shove it up?

 

All they have to do is treat us fairly for 3 more seasons and then they can scrap them altogether but they can’t even do that.

 

You obviously don't get it either.

The club are telling us we get a free suite upgrade but then raise our ST price by 50% from last season, even for people who don't use the suites. So we are the only supporters of the club getting a price hike.

It's quite simple - charge £180 for those 25 yearers who use the seats; freeze the others at last year's price like all other supporters.

It's not about the money. I can easily afford £180. It's about the principle, and about the clubs evasive two-faced responses which actually contradict the statement on their own website.

 

I just wish they'd be honest and say, 'TBH we're sick to death of the whole 25 year thing so we're scrapping it'.
There has to be a meaningful discount for 25 yearers otherwise the whole thing's a waste of time. Giving people crap 'free' upgrades that they don't want and charging them nearly full ST price for the privilege makes having paid £2.5 k for a 25 year ticket worthless.
Pretending that they're doing us a big favour by giving us a suite upgrade we don't want, and putting additional seat restrictions to access them, is just rubbing salt in the wound.

The decision to increase suite-upgrade prices (the price a 25-yearer will pay) has been taken after much consideration and analysis.


Rising costs have made the areas near loss-makers for the club, providing access for just over £5.20 per league fixture (for adults).


The suite-upgrade price increase is one of a number of increases coming for next season, to various products, in order to cover rising costs to ensure the football club is viable in all areas.


We are committed to providing affordable football via our season-ticket product and, in order to do so, turnover must increase in other areas, as we have frozen for the third season running.


We are extremely keen to ensure the accessibility of professional football for as many people as possible during these difficult economic times. Sadly, we aren’t immune to the significant rising costs of energy, personnel and maintenance.


We are also looking to improve the stadium suites this summer, refurbishing the toilets while making other enhancements where possible.

I'm not buying it, just because Rupp clearly put a few quid in and we got lucky with Hughes, this chancer is still wingng it.
