1968-72 Peter Middleton

I went to the Anfield game.

Nearly got taken out by a HUGH police horse, the rider had a MASSIVE "bobby knocker".

I remember Dalgleish, ball in front of him, back to the defender, arms out............no-one could get the ball off him...........legally.

We lost 4-0, I hated Dalgleish from that day.

Stop bringing the memories back, my head can't take it!!

Remember leaping up in the Bradford end thinking it was in and wondering why no one else joined in

 

Shit, I've been simmering about that for 53 bloody years.

 

I think that's the current law regarding throw-ins. Believe the old law was BEHIND the line, that's certainly what I was taught in the 70s and the law we used during the 80s!!

 

So I WAS right to be simmering.

 

If anyone has any pictures of the Bradford end, I was sat in front of the wall on the track on the Midland road side of the penalty area. Imagine that happening today.

 

Without doubt it would have been a great goal to win the tie.

Apologies for coming to the party late. I certainly remember Peter. A fairly quiet, unassuming lad who, despite his fairly slender frame, really could strike a football hard and scored a number of spectacular goals.

As I recall his move Plymouth came out of the blue, when City swapped him for Ronnie Brown. As you'll be aware he made a notable start for Argyle and it seemed he was set to have a good career there when he was hit by that car. He was very popular with the fans during his stay with us and chipped in with a good ratio of goals.

Peter and John were chalk and cheese!!
