Went to see this this week,great film its a must for the cinema tho not tele,went to The Light on Broadway really good venue,reclining seats and food and alcoholic drink available,£7:00 midweek

 

With regards 1917 I was a little disappointed awaiting the wow factor which for me did not happen, the one thing that did strike home were the horrors of the World One battle fields, you watch movies and don't think about the fallen and how they were left to rot/decompose, and of course the feeling those poor souls had when the call rang out "up and over".
Thinking about those brave lads (both sides used as cannon fodder) made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, but overall a disappointing watch to say it did so well in the award ceremonies.

 

Terrible film, It stretched about an hour's worth of story over 3 hours seemingly just for the sake of it.

If they'd have condensed it down and not diluted all the action then it could have been half decent.

 

Best film of all time. Denzel at his best.

 

I stuck with it but I struggled for the last hour. Could've easily been completed in 2hr30. Thought there was a lot of nothingness in a lot of parts which were just there for the sake of it. 6/10 6.5 maybe.

 

Finally got to watch 1917 tonight. Agree there was no "wow" factor but it was, alright.
Can't imagine any movie will be able to capture the true horrors of battlefield's.
Did enjoy the film though!

 

So it's no good on a 14" black & white portable then ?

 

Saw it last night. It was ok but slightly disappointing

 

The last recent world war 2 film I watched was Dunkirk a couple of years ago. After all the hype for that, I was massively underwhelmed with Dunkirk, in fact I found it very boring, and it was a hard slog to watch it all.

I get the feeling from some reviews I have read, that this may be the same?

Along with Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci. and Edward Norton, Denzel Washington is in my top 5 actors, he usually plays the nice guy but he was a complete b@stard in American Gangster.
Maybe lovely was not the best way to describe him .

 

The Gentleman was okay, seen better though, bit of a poor mans Snatch. Still I like that sort of film so it wasn’t to bad.

Just seen Dave's post, yeah it's amazing that team only just got the playoffs but by Christ, they gave Northampton a good old fashioned seeing to.

 

I watched Midway the other day, as somewhat of a WW2 enthusiast it didn’t disappoint, really good film.

 

Just started Hunters on Amazon Prime.

 

Saw Escape from Pretoria today and in the main, a decent film, with a backdrop of South African apartheid.

As a viewer, I wished I'd have learnt a little more of the background to Jenkins & Lee.

 

I saw it on IMAX at the national museum last Sunday.
It was fairly intense. Not quite as shattering as I was expecting, but it was pretty good.

it was ok .
I was expecting more action.

 

I'll recommend "The Irishman" Pacino, De Nero and Joe Pesci, Martin Scorsese's take on the Jimmy Hoffa days, great movie.
