I'd rather Ridehalgh stay than Smallwood, purely based on the fact he's unlikely to feature much at all but if Smallwood stays, he'll play every game if fit.

Cook is a great goalscorer, but he's rubbish with his back to goal, rarely brings others into the game and I think as a team we could score more without him in the starting 11.

Stop playing through just Cook and let's take a different view of things, ask the question 'does playing Andy Cook hamper us as a team or are we scared that without his goals we'd sink ?'

Of course, I could be totally wrong, and often am.

 

You say he doesn't bring others into the game but yet he has the most assists. He's also still our top scorer, despite not being anywhere near the form he was in last season. He's not perfect, but there are a hell of a lot more of the squad that need the finger at them before it needs pointing at Cooky.

he’s had a frustrating season but we’ve been terrible and not used him well at times.

He’s got 20+ in him and you need that for a promotion push.

Id keep Cook over Oliver 8 days a week. He’d make a far better sub when his luck changes, because if he performs as of late he won’t play from the off next season. Hard to say but that three year deal turned out not such a smart idea?

Only things I would change there would be offering Halliday a new improved deal rather than the year extension and moving Doyle onto coaching duties only.

I don’t mind Stubbs but he’s fallen out of favour under GA and it would give us scope to bring in a more mobile replacement if he and Taylor are moved on.

the key position in all of this is CM. We have to breakup the partnerships we have and find a new replacement for Smallwood or Gillead.

 

Ideally, a completely new partnership that features neither of them as starters.
