Yes, best leave it to sht cities like Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen et al. . . . even London is getting in on the act. We will just keep building more roads coz it's known that it reduces traffic. As usual Bradford will lag behind.
Just for your information I can cycle up any hill in Bradford that you care to name, I'm mid 60's and have been cycling for just over 1 year. And it ain't an electric bike either. I did meet a woman who was 74 who had an electric bike. She told me that the 'hills just disappear' with her bike.
Oh and BTW in that year of cycling I lost 10 Kg, from an unhealthy 84 Kg down to 74 Kg. I just might save the NHS some long term expensive diabetes treatment. . . . hopefully.

I think that’s to be applauded but having seen some of the driving in Bradford, I’m not sure I’d want to ride a bike in Bradford again. (Many moons back I used to ride from Wickes on cemetery rd to Allied colloids and back every day. Always felt safe but hard to imagine it now.

Good on you, but not everyone is like you, if they were the world would be a much healthier place.
In the real world, we have people who think fast food is a staple diet and throwing the packaging on the ground is the norm.
As far as i am aware , most of the cities you mention are reasonably flat , I am 60 fairly fit and work in the building trade. There is no way i would cycle up Thornton road at 5 pm and later after a hard day on site, especially if i have to take my bloody toolbox home.

No one is saying that everyone has to cycle! It will be a move towards mixed transport with far more journeys done by bike or other efficient modes. It's inevitable. It's already happening throughout Europe. In Holland it happened 30 years ago although we can trace the beginnings of it back to the 70's when they are the campaigns for safer transport. There's an electric bike revolution happening. In the UK it's a little sluggish but in Europe sales of electric bikes are forging ahead.

I've seen a few people mention the commercial side being fine/doing well. Is it? What's it based on?

Our revenue now is largely what it was pre covid - any increase looks negligible, especially when you allow for inflation. We seem to be very vocal and active on social media in terms of securing local sponsorships, but these don't seem to be generating more revenue for the club in anything like material numbers, and maybe we're just better at advertising it?

Commercial performance of the club is much deeper than that. We've cycled through managers which has a cost impact, the infrastructure of the ground/pitch is nosediving, the 'product' is getting worse and customers are leaving in droves.

Where is this positive commercial impact?

    This is very scary read!
Apparently Reading FC posted annual pre-tax losses of £17million, in the most recent set of accounts, in the year up to June 2022. It is reported to have lost £36million in the previous year. According to the Financial Times, Deloitte estimate that the club has accumulated £220 million net debt, which is the largest in English football outside the Premier League.

Wow, how can they continue. How do you service that debt.
    It's madness
