I think he Alexander thought he’d be an asset he would have recalled him.

 

I didn't realise he was still on our books to be honest.

Possibly end up somewhere like Hartlepool or York next season. Cannot see him being offered a new contract here

 

Do we need to offer him a new deal to keep our options open for claiming compensation from wherever he ends up?

 

I think you need to offer a contract on the same terms for a development fee to come into play,
If we release him , we get nothing i believe. Does age not come into play as well.
I actually thought he had something that could be developed and seems to be doing well at that level.

 

Having seen him play a few times in the NLN his defending hasn’t been noticeable either way but his playing out of the back has and the decision making with that. He’ll move forwards with the ball and see what’s on

 

Can definitely see him slotting in alongside Reece Staunton at Arsenal.

 

If we offer him a new deal on at least the same terms as his current contract then we'd get some compensation as he's under 24 but doubt that compensation will be a lot and not many clubs at that level would be prepared to pay much compensation. Best case scenario is probably that we request a very minimal fee with a sell on clause then it's low risk to both clubs.
I can't see him being offered a new deal as he'll be 22 in the summer and there's a big gap between National League North and League 2. Also if were to keep him then it takes up a squad space and I'm not sure he's up to the level we need for a player taking up a squad space. If I was him even the only way I'd sign a new deal would be if I was told I had a good chance of starting, anything else and I don't think it's in his interest to stay. At his age he needs to be playing games like he is now and use them to get himself in the shop window as a player who has played game and proven is much more attractive to clubs than someone who hasn't played.

Having seen a bit of both over the past two years in the national league he is streets ahead of Staunton currently

I was thinking more as a cheaper squad filler instead of lumps of wood like Taylor.

 

He’s one of our own. Give him a year deal and see if he’s up to league football next season

 

if he wants it. Maybe he has got the taste for actually playing football week in week out now

 

But he won’t get that coming back?
