The difference is they gave him a chance to mould the team and I don't think the fans got on his back . I think comparing us to Liverpool in any capacity is a bit extreme, we wouldn't have a dossier on the hot water taps never mind the next manager

I think we have to stop dithering now, stop changing CBs willy nilly, pick a set up and go with it rest of year for consistency, so players know their role. I’d say 4-2-3-1 suits this group best.

Ridehalgh isn’t great in 5-3-2 but fine in a flat back four. Or do we go with Richards when he’s fit, given he’s got development potential?

play any of the CBs but Taylor. Ideally JT with either Stubbs or Platt, but if we do need to, play those two. Kelly next in pecking order. Taylor last.

Drop Richie for a game and put Gilly with McDonald so we have legs alongside a stopper.

If Walker is out then Pointon as a 10 behind Cook, with Young cutting in and Wright in the wide positions. Chapman as a wide alternative to Wright if he’s out with his hammy.

    I think that’s solid.

We need Walker back asap and we need Smallwood and his big floaters off set pieces. McDonald in for Richie on Tuesday to give him a kick up the backside, then hopefully he can kick on as he did when Kev was manager.

I was trying to say that we are in this mess because we keep sacking managers. The problem lies with sparks, he continually makes the wrong appointments and then doesn't have the bottle to stick with it, he chops and changes because he doesn't have a plan. We must stick with GA, but I don't think we will, 4/5 more bad results and he will be gone, he was set up to fail, just as the next fella will be.

He is failing through lack of knowledge. As far as know he has never played professional football and there fore would not have a clue about style setting teams up and how to manage a squad of players. He is therefore not in any position to hire and fire managers. For what it is worth I think we need to stick with GA because there is no one we trust to hire the correct manager for City.

Maybe I'm being nostalgic. But my memory is that there was always at least the nub of credibility and sense for what Parkinson was trying to do.

It wasn't a dig at you crass I totally agree with giving the manager a decent amount of time and backing. Unfortunately some fans jump on the your getting sacked in the morning bandwagon too quickly. I know it's not a good comparison but fergie nearly got the bullet before building one of the most successful dynasties in English football history. Perhaps we should allow the manager some time before we get on his back if we're not spanking teams week in week out. Someone mentioned about the North East clique being too pally ( a good thing when things are going well) but when the stuff hits the fan potentially problematic as we know with "player power " they can be almost untouchable.

I think it just shows the length of what some clubs will go to in order to be successful. They have a strong plans and preparation and put these in place ruthlessly.

We hear Sparks say due diligence is being done (think he got that one from Rhodes) , what was that exactly. It’s just a buzzword, along with ‘not accepting mediocrity’.

Everything about us apart from our younger players is mediocrity, Sparks first and foremost.

He isn’t the only one. Gent has never played professionally either.

Thank god i had the decorating to do this weekend, far more entertaining than the so called football.
Calling for G A 's sacking after 2 months is just crazy.
Although i do not agree with some of what he has done, we need to stick with a manager for longer than a season or part of one.
He is not to blame for this shit show.
The finger is pointed firmly at Rupp, Sparks, Gent and with this squad of players, Hughes.
We have got rid of Hughes and he has no one to blame but himself for his timid tactics.
Gent as head of recruitment , 2 out of every 10 are average, no one above and many just terrible.
Sparks talks a good game and his organisation of the commercial side is a credit to him, his football side is ameteurish at the best.
Herr Rupp, Why did a man with little or no interest in football, allow himself to be persuaded to invest in a football club.
For a so called shrewd business man,a very strange decision, especially as he has gone at it half hearted.
You can not run any business at arm's length, unless you have a very experienced CEO in the field doing it for you.
I have no idea where we go from here, i just hope G A finds that combination of players that get us winning again, i do not think he will manage that this season, too many feckless buggers in the squad, but hopefully we have a better squad to give it a decent go next.
Now do i go tomorrow or not, still got some painting to finish.

    Not Alexander’s fault.
Blame the board. Blame Hughes especially but GA has inherited a mess just like Parky did all those years ago. Demanding his removal solves nothing.

This argument about sticking with Alexander purely because we've sacked too many managers over the last few years is nonsense.

He is not the right man for the job and nobody enjoys his brand of football. Sticking with him would be sticking with the wrong man for the sake of continuity and will lead to another wasted season. I am all for giving managers time but not when they are so blatantly inadequate for the role.
