I genuinely feel sorry for Graham Alexander. He joined a club with no direction or vision; he inherited a squad of players assembled by the previous manager under the leadership of Rupp and Sparks and is being expected to work with that squad even though his style of play is quire different to the style of the previous manager. He's been unlucky in losing a couple of key players in Walker and Pattison. He certainly hasn't helped himself with some of his team selection and tactics but in part that has been a consequence of the players at his disposal. He hasn't yet had an opportunity to put his own mark on the squad and it doesn't look like he will do so in the immediate future.
Of course, much of the criticism will be directed towards him and the squad. But the issue is much deeper than that. If Alexander were to leave, it would be back to square 1 and we'd still be without any kind of direction from the top. Whoever is the manager, I can't imagine that there will be any change in direction in having frozen the playing budget for the past 5 years. One of those who could change things and provide a direction for the club has no interest or understanding of the club and his main man, his CEO is there to do his boss' bidding. They seem to have forgotten that this is fundamentally a club that exists to play football. At times it appears that other things are more important. This club is floundering iand will continue to do so without new leadership at the top of the club. Alexander isn't the problem; he is simply a symptom of the deeper problem.

I wouldn’t mind as much if the football wasn’t so prehistoric or he at least have some young lads a go to develop, but I’m seeing no redeemable features and I’m usually one who defends managers for too long on here. I’ve never wanted someone out so fast, he seems like a decent bloke that’s about all I can say for him.
That said, like the last 3 sackings I have no faith in those who would be in charge of finding a replacement, the blame lies with them. Don’t give them an excuse by blaming others.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Onside, Gardscoigne, bantam2708 and 13 others like this. -

I've never lost faith in a manager as quickly as I have for GA.
The only defence I can offer for him is the inheritance of such a shocking squad overall.
However, the football he is serving up is soul destroying.
I truly cannot see where the next win is coming from in the league.
His persistent reluctance in starting with flair players such as Pointon and Chapman is baffling. The only positive result we have had this month came in the EFL Trophy, if my memory serves me right, both these started.
How as he not abandoned the negative awful 3-5-2 formation to start games. We simply don't have the players to make a success of this formation.
The number of times we concede the first goal in the first 15 minutes or so is shocking and down to the tactics in my opinion.
I am afraid I don't trust him with the summer rebuild, but then I don't trust Sparks with any more appointments.
What a depressing mess we find ourselves in.bantamdave41, dn14bantam, CRASS and 12 others like this. -

Sack him and then what ????
Put faith in a CEO who gets it fooking wrong time after time ............put faith that our fooking recruitment team to provide the players ??????
This aint about the manager anymore its about get these two fooking idiots running our club out of the door.

Need a new owner and CEO. Replacing GA will have no impact, season is over.
We need experienced, qualified leadership that will invest and drive us forward. Under the stewardship of Rupp and Sparks this will never happen. It's a damning indictment that we have been surpassed by Barrow & Crewe.Stevay_b, vladimir, Idlebantam and 10 others like this. -
This was a shocking appointment from the off. His style of football is dire and as has been said, going from one extreme to the other in MH to GA was never going to end well.
The club is rotten to the core though and whatever happens with GA, we will continue to go from one sh*t show to another as long as Sparks and Rupp are making the calls.
Without radical changes from the top down, we are currently on a one way ticket out of the football league.Sam Mortimer, bantam2708, Jay and 9 others like this. -

Which kinda shows the point if your club has direction and you choose the correct appointments you have a chance or reversing the bad form.
And if you add Alexanders spell at MK Dons, ironically his stats results wise are the same for both clubs, 16 points from 13 games. Add them together and his tally for this season at both clubs is 32 point from 26 games.
Theres a common denominator throughout us getting managerial appointments wrong but i just can't put my finger on it.......bantamdave41, Kopendin1964, vladimir and 8 others like this. -

Not Alexander’s fault.
Blame the board. Blame Hughes especially but GA has inherited a mess just like Parky did all those years ago. Demanding his removal solves nothing.vin weasel, Two Legs, Here's Johnny and 7 others like this. -
There's nothing about this that constitutes a simple 'sack the manager' conversation. His appointment was a mistake, and is probably one we need to rectify, because the key thing here is - no one else at the club is setting the footballing strategy, and there's no way in the world I'd want us rebuilding the squad in the summer in the image of GA. It's dinosaur football. Horrendous.

Alexander should never have been given the job in the first place. An absolute dinosaur of a manager who has been left behind by the modern game.
He is of course not the problem at this club but I have no faith in him as manager and have no interest in watching his 'style' of football. We cannot allow him the have the summer window because it'll be another wasted season next year.Stevay_b, Naz Nomad, Kopendin1964 and 6 others like this. -
Thank god i had the decorating to do this weekend, far more entertaining than the so called football.
Calling for G A 's sacking after 2 months is just crazy.
Although i do not agree with some of what he has done, we need to stick with a manager for longer than a season or part of one.
He is not to blame for this shit show.
The finger is pointed firmly at Rupp, Sparks, Gent and with this squad of players, Hughes.
We have got rid of Hughes and he has no one to blame but himself for his timid tactics.
Gent as head of recruitment , 2 out of every 10 are average, no one above and many just terrible.
Sparks talks a good game and his organisation of the commercial side is a credit to him, his football side is ameteurish at the best.
Herr Rupp, Why did a man with little or no interest in football, allow himself to be persuaded to invest in a football club.
For a so called shrewd business man,a very strange decision, especially as he has gone at it half hearted.
You can not run any business at arm's length, unless you have a very experienced CEO in the field doing it for you.
I have no idea where we go from here, i just hope G A finds that combination of players that get us winning again, i do not think he will manage that this season, too many feckless buggers in the squad, but hopefully we have a better squad to give it a decent go next.
Now do i go tomorrow or not, still got some painting to finish. -

It comes as a bit of a surprise to me that the club is even considering getting rid of Alexander. I've thought for some time now that if anything, it would be Alexander choosing to leave the basket case of a club for his own self respect!Bronco, Kopendin1964, Ponty City and 5 others like this.
