I used to dismiss calls for him to go but his team selections continue to baffle me week upon week so I’d say I’m meh.

woeful today. Never looked like winning at any point.

 

I wouldn’t mind as much if the football wasn’t so prehistoric or he at least have some young lads a go to develop, but I’m seeing no redeemable features and I’m usually one who defends managers for too long on here. I’ve never wanted someone out so fast, he seems like a decent bloke that’s about all I can say for him.

That said, like the last 3 sackings I have no faith in those who would be in charge of finding a replacement, the blame lies with them. Don’t give them an excuse by blaming others.

 

Richards was never going to start when he's just coming back from injury so Ridehalgh has to start today.

 

What on earth was his rationale to start with that line up? What has Jon Tomkinson done wrong? What has Odour done right? Why is Smallwood still on bloody set pieces? Why for goodness sake start with the slowest backline I've ever seen at City? Why take Cook off and isolate Jake Young when we are needing goals? Not sure I've felt as detached from this football club as I do right now, the football on display is absolute garbage and I don't see it turning around anytime soon.

 

There's nothing about this that constitutes a simple 'sack the manager' conversation. His appointment was a mistake, and is probably one we need to rectify, because the key thing here is - no one else at the club is setting the footballing strategy, and there's no way in the world I'd want us rebuilding the squad in the summer in the image of GA. It's dinosaur football. Horrendous.

 

He should never have been appointed in the first place. Sparks now scouring the small ads for a replacement. Both for himself and Alexander, hopefully.

So what do you suggest he did instead?

 

The team selection was a joke. If you're playing a back 3, it needs to be mobile. Simple as that, because it has to shift laterally to cover the channels.

And the best approach generally speaking, if you have slow CBs, is to play a back 4, and not push too high. So you need pace up top to be able to get behind teams and push up quickly. Which we don't have either.

It's an awful, awful mess.

This was a shocking appointment from the off. His style of football is dire and as has been said, going from one extreme to the other in MH to GA was never going to end well.
The club is rotten to the core though and whatever happens with GA, we will continue to go from one sh*t show to another as long as Sparks and Rupp are making the calls.
Without radical changes from the top down, we are currently on a one way ticket out of the football league.

 

And if you are going to play a back 4, you pick the best central pairing you've got, which is Stubbs and Platt.

 

We can't give GA the Summer transfer window.

We don't want the squad he will assemble.

But this is way beyond Graham Alexander, and he shoulders only a small amount of blame.

 

That's the issue .... whilst we have this owner and CEO we are gonna remain hopeless. It cannot be manager after manager fault. Something else is wrong. SELL THE CLUB MR RUPP.

I only got in form work before kick off so didn't have time to see the line up but saw quickly he'd dropped Tomkinson to the bench. Throughout the team quite possibly the slowest starting eleven I've ever seen. He never gave those lads with those tactics and I simply can't forgive a manager doing that. Sounds desperate but if I'd heard he's walked I wouldn't bat an eyelid cos another couple of years of those tactics makes me shudder. Although it might well make my mind up about buying a season ticket next season.

 

Agree. And neither are great. But that's the one. Maybe Tomkinson and Stubbs, just for a bit of pace.

We do not have the personnel needed to play a back 3 or a back 5. But GA persists with it

We get caught out with pacey attackers whenever we have Taylor playing. Not to say hes the main culprit, Stubbs on the right hand side is equally as bad

Cook is not a target man. The link up play with him an Smith is non existent

Odour is a fraud. Of all the people to play in that position, GA picks him??? Chapman, Pointon, Wilson, Tulloch. All options available but GA refuses to use them

He needs to go. Ive had enough. 7 games without a win in this shithole of a league. The results wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt for the fact that our performances get worse every week. He can feck off
