Giving Accrington their best chance by passing straight to their striker isn't what I'd class as a good performance but each to their own.

    Funny things, defenders...

Many people wrote off O'connor and Canavan. They're not doing too bad now...

It's not always about the individual with defenders, it's often as much about how the whole unit complements each other.

That said, Taylor hasn't had good performances whereas Stubbs seems to have dipped for some reason. Let's hope he comes back fighting.

I don't disagree, and it often is who is around you. Lets hope Kelly Platt and Tomkinson all stay fit as i do not trust either of the above as it stands.

I'd completely trust Stubbs in a back 3 that don't contain Taylor. If we swapped him out for Platt there'd be very little difference imo.

25 years old an approximately 70 league appearances , tells me he is not so good, not sure how much injuries have held him back though.

Anyway the way Walker plays he is always going to,pick up knocks and Pattison seems to have the sort of injury that drags on. So I would like another in who can play the number 10 role. It’s a vital position the way we play

So what? Stuart McCall didn't agree that Zesh Rehman was crap, he even made him captain.

Managers make mistakes, to suggest they don't is nonsense.

Read my remarks again. GA's opinion of player's ability to play the roles he wants them to play is what matters not ours. That doesn't mean the players you mention haven't got ability. If GA fails then you will be proved to be right in your criticism.
Personally I hope you are wrong and he is getting it right. Nothing against you personally, it's just that I've had enough of us playing at this level.

We can't afford to have another replacement for those two as both will be on good wages. Besides, Pointon is ideal to play in the 10 role, it will be his natural position in years to come.

I'm sure we all want to be playing at a higher level. I just don't agree that Ridehalgh (as a wing back), Taylor and Derbyshire are good enough to get us there and I certainly don't believe they are good enough to push the first XI enough to maintain their performances.

I'm also not too sure where this "doesn't fit the system" nonsense comes from.

Odesebe, Odour, Chapman and Pointon are all very similar in style and in general terms all would be classed as attacking midfielders or wingers.

If odesebe and odour can fit this system then I've no doubt the other two could aswell.

My view is that Pointon is young enough to develop different skill sets. No reason why he couldn’t play in that more central role.
Your point about the wage costs is also spot on.

It doesn't matter who the manager is you always think you know better. You talk about the "more knowledgeable amongst us". I take it you class yourself as part of that group. We are all entitled to an opinion but although I am happy that Taylor and Stubbs are out of the starting eleven that isn't enough for you, you want Taylor replacing on the bench with Stubbs.

But would it set us back while he learns these new skills. I still think promotion is the target this year. I assume at the moment GA prefers the more physical presence to the "flair" players. We have been calling out for a style and a plan on the pitch. To an extent we seem to now have that. Just a shame some of our more skilful players don't seem to fit that style.

Pointon is young enough and talented enough to develop and adapt his game to different roles. Maybe GA feels he needs to work on certain parts of his game, they may be doing that now. The new management team don't seem to play wingers but get their width from the wing backs and the front two running the channels. Time will tell.

I'd be working on bulking him up a bit :grinning:. We know he has skills, maybe GA thinks he's a bit lightweight at the moment

Well GA was some midfielder if I remember rightly. I will let him have some credit were Pointon is due, but from what I have seen Pointon is different gravy....... not too far off from the finished article. Maybe internal stuff going on but I will leave GA to sort .. if a bid has come in heads can turn look at Lewis after Barnsley played like a chocolate fireguard for a bit.

I recall Filipe Morais saying after one game he had been co-commentating on that in his opinion Pointon would eventually carve a career out as an effective number 10 rather than wide man
