Let's not over egg it, Odour wasn't the driving force behind the turnaround. Gillead and Halliday were.

 

Why was it odd? We were still 2 1 down and wanted the game restarted.

I'd say it was a very professional reaction and the one, as fans, we should expect.

 

To clarify the Bobby Pointon position .
1. He played in the Wycombe match and was subbed at approx 80 min.
2. A week later he played the full match at home to Barrow.
3. A week after that he played a wide role against Notts Co.

I thought he contributed well attacking wise , unfortunately he lost the ball just outside our box and this led to their 4th goal. Since then he has not appeared in the squad. I feel he has been harshly treated , and should be one of the options on the bench if not in the starting line up. After all he is a promising young player still learning his trade.

 

Pointon has plenty of time on his side. We are unbeaten in 7 so the manager has got the squad selections right so far. I've no complaint as long as we're moving in the right direction. No room for sentiment if we want to progress. GA obviously feels well stocked with other options in that part of the pitch.

 

3) He was pulled off at half time.

 

Difficult to argue with regards the results we have got since the Notts County game, knowing Walker was out I have to say I found not even having Pointon on the bench was a little strange, especially during his post match interview he said we had every situation covered.
Derbyshire will be released at the end of this season personally I would have paid him off, to prefer him to a potential home grown prospect who has done little wrong when played was IMO the wrong call.

 

His goal was the turning point would have had a second if Smiths head hadn’t got in the way. If he isn’t training right then more fool him because he has the talent to do well

 

Pointon was a breath of fresh air but his performances were dipping when he was left out he needed a rest. It’s a surprise he hasn’t made the bench. I don’t think he is a good central attacking midfielder yet but when both options are missing he should be at least considered. But GA is getting it right so far and whilst that’s the case we have no choice but to accept it.

 

ooh er missus, I was lucky to quarter of an orange and half a cup of Bovril.

 

But he didn't know that when putting him on the bench ahead of Pointon did he.

 

What we don't know is whether Derbyshire is out performing Pointon in training. GA mentioned this about Osadebe and Odour. If that's the case then Bobby has to knuckle down and keep going. As nice as it would be to have him in the squad, if he's not going to be effective where GA sees him playing then you've got to go with the manager, particularly if he's getting most things right at the moment. I get the impression that Alexander doesn't listen to the outside noise, particularly when I think back to the calls for Taylor to be dropped, only for GA to start to him in the next few games until he was red carded. Maybe he's doing the same again with Pointon.

 

Can't disagree with that lets hope that's not the case as from what we've seen of the kids he looks to have plenty of ability.

Oh give over. We love a good fist pump and knee skid or just an arm in the air to celebrate a goal that brought us right back into the game in front of the Kop as well, not a boring non reaction as if he wasn't that bothered. Anyway Halliday showed how to get the game restarted while screaming in delight as he ran down the touchline clutching the ball then over to the centre spot. That's what I want to see.

 

I've no problem with you celebrating being behind, at home to Morecambe.

I'm just saying I agree with Odour that it was more pertinent to get the game going again rather than knee slide in the corner and waste valuable time.

 

Bah humbug. Could have at least done a mini fist pump to show some glee at scoring but just to stand there and do nothing was bizarre. Didn't even attempt to get the ball back to the centre circle.

He came on as a sub against Liverpool Under 21s after the Notts County match.
