Can someone answer me this honestly please. What sort of football do City fans want? Because from what I can see they don't want Long ball, but also don't want passing and don't want overly attacking or overly defensive.

If the team wins who cares? Parkinson's football is shite really... that's long ball..

Love the way that he's not 'letting this go'. He has some good points. I never really backed his sacking - footie is generally terrible in L2 and always when you're not winning.

I'll give you one word onside "passionate fans" iff the next manager alludes to that he's won us over which deluded Derek never did

Adams ego again about making playoffs. We were 8pts off with 9 games to go when he was sacked.

For all his comments, which often are true, he seems to misunderstand the situation. He wasn't here to manage us for 20 years and make gradual improvements. Even the half-brain-dead City supporters know that managing us in League Two means somewhat instant success.

Adams is perfectly suited to being an underdog manager. He should just admit that the job was too big for him and move on.

I don’t know too much about his style but from the Louis Reynolds BBC piece, the MK Dons journalist said the midfielders ran 14/15 kms per match and put in the hard yards. I think that’s something we’ve missed since the Jones or Cullen days. What was also interesting to hear were the Adams comments about what went wrong, stating the ground and training facilities not being owned by the club and the effect the rent has on the budget. He also admitted not winning enough home games to get the supporters onside. When you look at the bigger picture, a club of our size should be doing all it can to own it’s own ground. Adams is right in that we are a small club with no infrastructure which is a damning indictment on previous and present owners. The band aid approach will only get you so far as we’re seeing, and until we address the elephant in the room we’ll continue with the merry go round of managers who may bring short term success but ultimately fail as the house built on sand collapses. Until we have an owner who has a real vision for this club and not one looking beyond recouping his investment, I don’t expect anything to change.

Anyway good luck to the new management team, give us something to get behind on the pitch, because there’s nothing to get behind off it..

Mods can move this to the Adams thread.

Premiership Clubs which do not own their stadium.
    • Bournemouth
    • Brighton
    • Manchester City
    • Newcastle United
    • West Ham
Locally Huddersfield Town are joint owners of the kennels.

“To be fair to the CEO Ryan Sparks, he has spent the club’s money on getting new seats for the stadium,” he added.

Ouch, priorities not in order I guess. Especially the ones in a stand used twice a season

You have to ask why this man who used to manage us is spilling his vitriol now. We didn’t own our stadium or training pitch when he signed for us. He labels us a small club with a large fan base.

Well now he is a small minded and vindictive man managing a small club with a small fan base and unlikely to expand further. We are at a low ebb, so he thinks it is a free kicking time. Deadly Derek did not like City fans at all. He says we don’t like the truth I am not entirely sure which truth he is speaking, but in any event one of our brighter days was when he was kicked out of the club.

He was a massive mistake, and he wants to insult our club and fan base and I can think of no other manager who has done this. My only wish is that we are in better shape as a football team when. He returns to VP. We are all fully aware on this forum of our club’s weakness and it is discussed regularly, but what we won’t have is DD having a pop because we rejected his awful football.

Adams already had one of the biggest budgets in the league, regardless of the ownership of the ground, it was his failure but in Adams' world that is impossible so it's everyone else's fault (also, the main point of his interview was actually blaming the fans but everyone has missed that because he's very good at his particular brand shithousery)

Not owning the ground and having to train at a school didn't prevent Parky winning promotion and getting us to the league Cup final.

Adams just doing his best to deflect failure here. When he was appointed as manager, did he not know we didn't own the ground, of course he did, and he didn't think it was an issue when accepting the role.

Stick to Morecambe Derek where admittedly you've done a very good job and are a good fit there

This excuse of not owning the ground is not good enough Derek, i could understand if we were like Coventry having to play miles away at another clubs ground or even ourselves after the disaster at 3 different "home " grounds but as the players arrive at vp do you really think that they think this isn't ours. Also in a similar vein verstappen seems to do quite well without owning the car doesn't he.

The strange bit seems to be why now.
He’s been gone over 18 months.

Does it really do any good to any body?
Like everybody has said,it just looks like a sad little dig and an attempt to deflect any blame away from his awful style of football.

Is he excusing his own poor performance? Maybe

Is he explaining our own long term underperformance? Yes.

We can be so 'us vs them' that we blind ourselves to our own situation. We respond with 'yeah, so?' when we should listen.

All these managers don't fail because we're a well run club giving ourselves the best chance of success. They fail because we aren't.

Deluded Derek strikes again. You are irrelevant to us Del boy, go away, move on. All the things he points out are true, but were also known to him before he took the job. Dross

You also really have to question Parkers motives. Releasing this article on the day he knows we are announcing a new manager? Very poor taste IMO, unless Sparks has requested the "give the new manager time" statement for maximum effect?
