The Sheff Wed owner withdrew funding didn't he after his wife and kids were abused by so called fans. Be careful what you say and wish for ......

 

A level of investment from the owner would be nice, obviously. But what's really needed is an owner with the commitment and interest, to either take on themselves or appoint a CEO with the mandate and ability, to run it with the goal of 'this is how I'm going to drive the club forward' rather than 'this is how I'm going to make sure we don't make a loss'. And that's not to say we should be reckless, but we need to be reasonably ambitious. If our strategy is simply to avoid a P&L loss each year and let the manager decide everything on how we play and who we sign, its no surprise we go nowhere.

That's my criticism of Rupp. Not that he isn't ploughing millions in, its that he's not interested enough to set the club up for success rather than to avoid catastrophic failure.

 

Commercially the club has grown, season ticket sales increased again for this season. The club have invested in renovating some of the facility, although not large scale. They only place we are failing is on the pitch, which unfortunately for Bradford City, that is nothing new, far more season's of crap rather than success.

 

And that's by far and away the most important aspect of whether the club is successful or not.

 

Following all those out of business through financial mismanagement. In other business owners would be prosecuted for trading illegally

 

I've honestly no idea what you mean Park, meaning no offence. If you don't have a credible plan to compete and grow, you get left behind. Its literally what's happening to us.

 

We are growing as a club we are generating money that should be driving us forward rather than spending money we don’t have. Last year was a good example everything was in place for success, the manager was backed and he failed to deliver. You will go on and on about plans and styles of play but this is sport with other teams waiting to spoil those plans. We need to find a manager that can lead and deliver with effective football and from there you build with continuity on and off the pitch.

 

We are categorically not growing as a club. We're regressing as a club, we've just increased our revenue a little.

 

But increasing turnover and possible profit , is what a business is meant to do and Bradford City are a business.
The only thing different is that its part of the entertainment industry, or in City's case lack of entertainment.
As park said we have failed to find the correct formula on the pitch, but that is not through lack of investment.
The clubs playing budget is higher than most at this level. It has just been used incorrectly, certainly by the last manager, who almost reached the target, became too negative and then threw the baby out with the bath water.

 

Nail on the head. It's nothing to do with investment from the owner (or should I say handouts, because they all want it back at some point), it's having an owner with a plan. Handouts disguised as "investment" will only bring on a vicious circle of needing more and more to progress because with that "investment" comes more wastage, more throwing money at it until it works.

If Rupp lived here and had a defined plan for the club, I would be happy. As it is, I'm not unhappy with Rupp as owner, just his lack of leadership. I think if he shifted Social Media Man back to his specialist subject of twitter and klaxon ringing, and brought a real professional CEO (like Baldwin) in, then a lot of our woes would dissapate over time.

 

Well thank god another 'bad' owner has been found, almost had to hold ours accountable. Managerless and 16th in League 2 sure looks a hell of a lot better now.

Saying that, they've just been promoted to the Championship and their owner supposedly spent 30m investing into the club and is spending £2m a month...

Bet they could go bust, get new owners, and have more success in the following 7 years than we've had in the past 7. Bolton got done and they only need one season down here.

I wonder if there's a few in their fanbase saying...."Well...we could be Bury" or "Better the devil you know!"

 

I have a lot of time for Baldwin he is a well connected and switched on guy. But let’s not kid ourselves that it was halcyon days when he was CEO. I remember him talking to fans pre match in the old superstore and the main topic of conversation was how we were going to pay the lecky. We are far better off these days

 

I spoke with Dave last year in a well know DIY shop. He told me then that people were interested in Bradford city, but not at the asking price. It's Rupp's business and he can value it at whatever he wants and whilst the club is running as it is and costing him nothing, he can afford to wait.
Hit the jackpot and gain that promotion and he is laughing in my opinion.

 

He has to invest in a lottery ticket at some point if he wants to hit the jackpot, though
