We'll have a much better budget than most of the teams mentioned as top 7 but recruitment under Hughes and Gent is questionable.Strangely I don’t think it was Rupp or Sparks that made Hughes take off Banks in play off semi last season, maybe you know differently and Rupp was texting Hughes to make the substitution. There is no reason with the current owners and CEO that the club shouldn’t be capable of a top 7 finish with a decent manager.

The reason, is that the CEO hasn't implemented controls that prevent the slapshod approach to recruitment that leaves us with a bloated squad lacking in quality. Or a style that fans never connected with. Rupp and Sparks can't be blamed for tactical decisions or substitutions. They can be blamed for the general playing style we became wedded to, mindset of the approach that the manager we hired came with, and completely bizarre approach to player recruitment. That's where our problems are rooted.

I'm certainly not looking for the club to publish its business plan! That's a matter for the CEO and his team.

But what I am looking for is a vision for club; for a statement of intent of where we are going; some clarity on what kind of football will be provided; whether we will be allocating all of the financial advantage we have with our large fan base and the commercial arrangements into delivering our vision. I want to hear that there is something for the fans to get behind and support. And I don't want to hear any of that that from our CEO or the current football manager. I want to hear if from the one person who really has his skin in the game and that's the club's owner. He's the one who should setting the direction for the club but for his own reasons, he is silent on this.

I am fed up of the clichés. 'Not getting promoted would be a failure'. 'We don't accept mediocrity'. 'Promotion has always been our intent'. 'We'll have a leaner and more flexible squad' said in the context of we'll emphasise quality not quantity. All said once and then forgotten. We have become masters of the mum 'n apple pie intentions.

I remain of the view that our owner is content to allow the club to tickover until he gets his asking price. If we are promoted in the mean time, that would be a bonus but I don't see it as a driving force behind the club at the moment. Without that intent to do whatever is necessary to achieve promotion, we'll have to rely upon a huge dollop of luck to do it for us.

Absolutely spot on @Dennis@Dennis. It is the cliches that is so frustrating. One season rolls into another without anything of substance of how we enact our plan. If I resign myself to nothing happening unless Lady Luck puts in an appearance it will make it tolerable for awhile.
My main worry is the fans will get up of funding failure after failure and devise a plan for Rupp that will have him legging it to West Yorkshire!

I don't care what's on view as long as it gets us out of this league, I would hope 99% agree with that, if not why ?.

I didn't have to go back very far.

Luton Town - new manager appointed 17 November 2022 = promoted.

He wasnt sacked, Jones went to Southampton. The "no team changing managers mid season" refers to teams sacking their manager.

Absolutely. We needed half a dozen signings of the quality of Alex Pattison (when he is fit) to mount a good challenge this year. Instead we got wholesale change and ridiculous contracts. Whoever was responsible (other than MH) should leave the club.

I think I'd like a few more points on the board before accepting the season is over

Not yet there are plenty more shite results to come with these useless players wether we can avoid a relegation battle I'm not sure quite depressing when imo the best we can hope for is a lower mid table finish

We are looking down the table not up at present and that is where we are this season after the recruitment. The season isn't over but it could end up a dogfight for survival at this curent rate of decline.

I wonder if the crowd will still be announced as 17,000 when we lose our last home game to be relegated in front of just Charlie and 2,000 others?

The season isn’t over, but our hopes of promotion look a very distant hope.

Not yet... We need another 30 points to stay safe.

Then... Waste hundreds if not thousands of £££££ to renew our season tickets for another season in league 2

We've all been city fans long enough to know cowardice runs throughout the club and those on the pitch. It's going to take the right owner the right ceo the right manager, a supreme war chest and huge turnover of players at the beginning of Jan to get us anywhere near the play offs.

It's just not going to happen is it. And you can lay the that at the doorstep of the 2 biggest cowards at the club

I don't think cowardice is the right word. More like naivety and incompetence.

January is going to be a huge job, very difficult where we'd begin but I suppose first off I'd bin of all the loans and speak with Young on his thoughts at having another crack with us, if it's a non starter then he's our player who's started the season well so should invite plenty of interest to help us get a decent fee for him we can use to try help sort out our mess
