Is the season over

Bumping this up. The P word was not mentioned in any of the PR announcing Alexandra to the fans.

my own view is that we would be very lucky indeed to bounce to the top of the pile from this position might make the playoffs. In any event the fans are fairly subdued atm. Might get excited if we put a run together. What does everyone else think?

 

My view is we won’t be getting promoted this season. Sure we hear from some that we are only 6 points off, but 9 places who all have to drop points. But they made the same argument when we were 3 points and will still do when we are 9 then 12 until the penny drops. Unless Alexander can transform this team, on viewing it with my own eyes it’s simply not good enough for a top 7 finish in fact I question if it can even get top 12. Prove me wrong players.

 

Keeping us out of the drop zone might be an achievement in itself.

 

I do think the lack of talk of promotion could be a deliberate ploy, as it takes the pressure off and if we do fall short, GA and/or Sparks won't end up with egg on their faces. However, I doubt very much that GA has come here just to sit and wait this season out before going for it next season and I'd be questioning his appointment if he is. Make no mistake about it, he will believe he can get us finishing top 7 and will be going all out to try and achieve that, regardless of what the official message might be.

 

Of course promotion still has to be the aim which will be easier said than done but as long as we can see some progress and give it a real go we can’t ask for more

 

We are, I can't believe there isn't a Graham Alexander thread or at least a lot of activity on the New Manager thread.

 

Six points off the playoffs with 30 games to go ? That's achievable. Deluded Derek was 8 points off with 10 to go and still thought he could make it.

 

Apparently GA plays a game with his midfield two doing massive amounts of running - up to 15km a match. That kind of game will suit Gilliead to a tee, but not Smallwood & KMcD. Rumour has it he could be looking at signing Josh Morris as a free agent and (if fit) he would fit in nicely with Gilly.

can’t believe some are writing the season off already.

@Jordan posted the ‘homeymoon’ sats for GA at his prev clubs. Let’s hope we see similar, then take it from there.

I think that's the view of many people. We really have recruited badly and most think it very unlikely that we'll be promoted this year. It's very dispiriting to feel like this relatively early in the season. On Alexander I wish him well and hope that he can transform us. But the manner in which he's arrived here invites the nagging fear that he'll be just another version of the last three or four managers who've failed to excite us or get us out of this division. We can only hope for the best.

I'm in the seasons over camp as from what I've seen so far, only a handful of players have or are performing.
The only saving grace is fresh ideas from the manager, coupled with Chapman, Pattison and Oliver coming back from injury, gives us hope going forward.
Hopefully Alexander has some balls and drops Taylor, Stubbs and Ridehalgh from the back 4 and tries out something different because it's not working now.
All these potentials combined with the new gaffer gives me hope definitely.

 

If we have recruited as badly as the pessimists suggest i doubt we’d have beaten Swindon, MK Dons or been the better team versus Wrexham.

lets stop making excuses. We have enough here to still go up.

GA touched upon it in the 7 min vid the club put out - the one in the dugout - where he said the players might just need reminding of their roles and reorganising (or similar).

get them fit, organised and motivated to press like they did under K-Mac early doors, and all is not lost.
