We definitely need another competitive keeper capable of replacing Lewis because the standard he's set this season is nowhere near good enough and if he didn't have the grace of last year to fall back on I suspect there'd even be calls to give Doyle the gloves again in the short term.

 

That was awful last night from pretty much the third minute. The lead up and defending for the goal was appalling.

Osadebe was extremely poor and just didn't look interested. I don't like to single out especially as the whole team were poor but he looked lost/knackered/fed up.

Cook obviously carrying an injury. Lewis either makes a world save or a howler.

Brad tried, probably ran himself into the ground. All in a bad day at the office. That stadium deserves more fans!

 

It's very easy to say with the benefit of hindsight, but I said to my wife that we didn't look "right" at the kick off. We didn't seem to form up and just looked a bit disinterested. KM was still issuing instructions I think

 

We had the two people missing vital to our high press game and it showed. And I think Mac made an error in not recalling Platt who has been pretty consistent Mac himself is lacking minutes and it shows. The midfield just wasn’t up to it on the night

 

Eloquently put Johnny. I didn’t comment after the game , probably frustration and disappointment led. The next 5 days are critical in how the club progresses.

I saw a lot of tired players out there tonight on what is a big piece of grass, ( It’s always looked big to me!)

I’d even say one played with an injury , who if a replacement was available, would not have even played? As a result , offered nothing towards our performance.

I won’t enter the habit of pulling players apart, , it’s a team game after all.

It did show to me that KMc playing career may be looming closer to drawing to a close than he thinks. Sadly he had zero option to play himself, he was frankly just not the answer to Smallwoods suspension. A lack of game time was clearly evident and on such wide open spaces , any decent team would bypass him at the back, leaving just Taylor and Stubbs exposed. So it was proved……in spades. Smallwood may have even struggled. Franchise FC took full advantage of their pitch for sure, the first time I have seen them do so because we normally do well there. Their problem …they can’t play like that away from home.

Lastly , how on earth do they financially survive? New manager bounce, yet they could only attract 4,500 home fans?

It’s about having passion for the club though. It’s mad to be completely indifferent after a terrible result. It’s hardly surprising people react the way they do with our recent history, a completely untested manager in charge and another season of mind numbing midtable mediocrity looming.

If there were 5,300 there then I’m a Dutchman. Viewed from our end there were wide open spaces everywhere. It looked more like 2,500, including our 700, than 5,300.
Mind you, us singing ‘shit ground, no fans, when we were 4-1 down was desperation stuff!

 

For 21/22 they made a profit on players of around £5.5mil in addition to turnover of over £6m with a profit of £4m. They also use the system to move any losses the club makes to the Stadium MK Group which owns the stadium so takes the bulk of operating costs.

 

I’m trying very hard to rack my brain cells but, to the best of my memory, that’s the worst City away performance I’ve ever attended. The League Cup final was a more comprehensive thrashing but we were playing a team of PL internationals, so there was far more excuse.
We were handed our arse, and both our legs, on a plate, by MK. It seemed like they had several more players on the pitch in all areas. Our attackers and midfield were invariably surrounded by three MK players and created next to nothing as a result, whereas they were able to create frequent one-on-ones, at pace, against our static defence.

Comprehensively out-thought and outplayed.
I’m not sure where this leaves Big Kev. Because, on yesterday’s evidence, he won’t be getting much game time from whoever is our new manager.
And, once again, we can only bemoan the appalling summer recruitment. Far too many has-beens and never will be’s. Failing to sign an experienced recognised striker as cover/competition for Cook is criminal negligence.

 

Absolutely spot on, we had the same discussion on the 2.1/2hr trip back on each point you make, especially recruitment.
Lewis is low on confidence who do we have as cover, Cook poor and carrying something weight or injury, only striker option Oliver enough said, kid from Hull doesn’t make an impression.
Smallwood suspended only KM who can’t be match fit to replace him, no one to replace Walker.

If Patterson and Chapman were fit playing and Smallwood & Walker playing some of them in the squad would be no where near the pitch.

Yet we have a squad of approx 30…….

 

So much dross in the squad that can't be trusted. At the moment, the only conclusion is that the summer recruitment was really poor.

We've given them 2/3 year deals too!!

 

KM got done tactically last night, big time by a new manager who has a plan.
Three at the back a wing backs that pushed up, over loaded midfield and had a player spare either on side or the other.
We were like rabbits in the headlights and couldn’t or didn’t know how to adapt to their system on a big pitch.

I think KM has been very good and has potential I would like to see at City in the future but last night showed why we need a experienced manager as we can be naive at times.

 

He is diabolical. His analysis is that of an over excited teenager.

Haven't as yet JM, I presume he was included?
Whenever I have checked, he has in the main been a sub, even an unused one.
Doesn't seem to be getting that much game time it seems.

 

Well what a waste of time, effort, money, and time off work that was. I’ll be thinking again before doing away trips like that.
