You are very naive if you think they are not there to celebrate Hamas disgusting invasion. Most of these people want Israel wiped off the face of the map. I bet not one of those marching last night have links to Palestine, and it's just an anti-semetic protest.

I am very close to the Northern Ireland conflict by close family links to both sides, and there is no comparison whatsoever. When have we seen Catholic Irish marching through Bradford in this way for example.

I take it you saw the protest then?

I did. I went past the Town Hall at around 5.30pm (as I do every weekday). I'd say there were maybe a hundred or so people, lots of Palestinian flags. There was a police van and a couple of officers but nothing untoward. Seemed like a standard peaceful demonstration.

You talk about naivety but your stereotypical assumptions are bordering on racist.

Bordering? How can you border on being racist?

Not a go at you by the way, it's just this terminology of racist/racism gets on my tits. Ruins what in many cases can be good debate i.e the Yorkshire cricket 'problem'.

Peaceful or not, they are still condoning the attack by terrorists.

How come they didn't have a so called Free Palestine march before Saturday?

Fireworks and cars with Palestine flags were spotted by myself and others driving to Valley Parade, are you going to tell me they weren't celebrating the Hamas attacks?

They've marched every year in the City centre, I've seen it with my own eyes. There was actually a bigger turnout last year as I remember they pretty much blocked Market Street for about half an hour. They raise money for humanitarian aid with collections, car washes etc. It's only that it's getting reported now because of what is going on over there.

I entirely agree that marching in support of Palestine immediately after a massacre perpetrated by Hamas is insensitive, to say the least.
    But the idea that:
1 You have to have a ‘connection to Palestine’ to support Palestinian rights is clearly nonsense.
2 Likewise, the idea that all opposition to the actions of the Israeli government are antisemitic. Plenty of people, including many Jews and Muslims, are opposed to the apartheid activities of the current Israeli government without being opposed to the existence of Israel.

As for Northern Ireland, there may not be public demonstrations of support for one or other terrorist faction in Bradford. But there certainly have been in places like Glasgow over the years. So what’s the difference?

    Fair enough.

However, the timing of this week's protest was designed to provoke the vast majority of people who are disgusted at the terrorist attack on Saturday.

By the way 70% of Palestinians voted Hamas, that's majority of the country voting for a terrorist organisation. Let that sink in

You missed my original point. I was referring to the march last night in Bradford

To be fair, you are extremely naive if you genuinely don't think those people support the Hamas attacks.

I have seen pictures that I thought I would never see. Terrible images and reports. Barbarism on a large scale. There is no but…..

Those that are celebrating or supporting Hamas for political reasons are part of the problem. There is no political solution until such time as everyone agrees that Israel has the right to exist. Then we can maybe move forward. I don’t take sides in this notorious complicated historical political problem.

My knowledge of this conflict is tiny, however a quick fact check suggests the following. Hamas were elected in 2006 and there have been no elections since.
If people had to be 18 to vote pretty much anyone under the age of 35 at this stage ever voted for Hamas to be in power. The population of Gaza and the West Bank is about 5m, of this about 70% are under the age of 35. So 70% of people never voted for Hamas to be their leaders.

The only issue I see is that those who support Hamas aren't the people, but countries like Iran, Qatar, etc which would lead to further escalation in the area.
But that's just my thoughts looking from afar.

Interesting the same idiots telling Gary Linekar to stick to football are now the same idiots wanting him to comment. Will they make up their minds? I think the whole political point scoring on this is a complete disgrace. People now disgusted the wembley arch won't be lit up in the one hand but were very vocal about keeping politics and football separate in the other.

I don't want to hear Linekar whatever he has to say nor do I want Wembley to do anything other than accommodate sporting events ....

I wouldn't mind if it was lit up, as long as it used both countries colours and was used to honour the tragic deaths on both sides.

We lit it up for Ukraine I seem to remember so whilst I'm generally very much of the opinion that we should "keep politics away from football", I don't mind it being used as a tribute in this case if it's balanced.

Exactly. You have to commend the FA for the stance they've taken. Both Israeli and Palestinian victims will be remembered at Wembley tonight, people shouldn't be forced to chose sides in a conflict that is so complex.

I think the FA should stop all of this lighting up in colours. By all means have the black armbands and minute silence.

Shocking to see people all over the world celebrating the terrorist attacks by Hamas today on so called Jihad day.

ISIS member kills French teacher and wounds others.

At least 4 Jewish schools in London had to close today in fear of the safety of the pupils.

Pity any poor Jewish people at the moment with all this disgusting antisemitic fervour whipped up by the fanatics.
