I don’t disagree , but you said “ currently” . It was certainly more “ direct” for sure.

Agree Dave, the pace of our approach caught Newport completely by surprise. We sadly won’t do that every week for sure. It was refreshing to see.

I get your point NM but cannot agree whatsoever with the bit I highlighted above. We won 10 away games last season, 8 of which I went to, and I enjoyed them all immensely. I even enjoyed some of the draws!

How many of the 23 home games did you enjoy?

Not many, the most enjoyable home game for me was the playoff game against Carlisle with it’s the packed stadium and the importance of the occasion with nervous tension and City playing well in the holding on sense ;)

I don’t think Hughes will take us up or reach the playoffs but I hope I am wrong. I did n’t enjoy most of the games last season due to our cautious lack of intent approach but I was pleased we reached the playoffs. I thought our cautious approach in the semi finals was a factor in not reaching Wembley.
I did n’t think Hughes would change his philosophy this season but I hoped I would be wrong.
I hoped he would improve the team and squad around Cook and Lewis and not rely on them having another best season of their career performances for success but I fear that’s where our hope lies. Without those two players last season we were mid table at best.

I have n’t seen anything from Hughes that gives me confidence that he can send out a team playing front foot attacking football on a regular basis that lifts the stadium and makes a visit to VP enjoyable. The last few league home games were depressing and the crowd noise non existent. It’s like no one really believed and the shots on target over a number of games explains the disinterest. Do I hope we smash Walsall by five? Absolutely. I am no less of a fan because I think Hughes is n’t the man?
It’s just my opinion. I believe there are other managers/coaches who could do much better in style and results and spend the budget wiser and with a smaller squad. I maybe wrong. I hope I am.

I've asked Jamie if he can ask at the presser an update on Oliver and Chapman.

Surely they can't be far off now? They were on the grass a while back.

If you can analyse a game with former city winger Andy Kimowya on the punditry you're a genius.

Apologies I should have been more clear.
I meant I’ve enjoyed it overall since he joined, but mind numbing in the main this season.
However the Newport game shows what we’re capable of, and I hope that game wasn’t just a flash in the pan.

You enjoyed talking the lead then sitting back and letting Carlisle come at us while we clung, extremely fortunately, to a slender lead knowing we'd have to go up there in the second leg?

Wow! Given we lost or drew 14 of the 23 league two games your enjoyment level must be lower than mine.

If it's because you're having a pint with friends or meeting up with family then fine, I'm on board with that but if you're actually suggesting you enjoyed the 90 minutes football then I'm gobsmacked.

Unfortunately most opposition teams won’t be as open as Newport. Most matches at this level turn into games of attrition and it’s important to come out on top. Wallsall will definitely be one of those matches unless we get an early goal

Basically it was the games we won that I enjoyed. It is hard to come away from a game you have won and not enjoyed it

For clarity, I have yet to enjoy a single game this season, and I have been to most of them. I know this contradicts what I said above, but this season is a different animal. Typically, Newport was the first away game i've not been to and look what happened, but my young 'un drove all the way down with his mate as company and he said we were fantastic, so I live in hope...

It’s been boredom for years the difference is wether we are losing on winning do you remember the buzz word under Parky “Hoof” but we won games. If Hughes starts winning he won’t get many complaints.

Despite his arrogance, I think that had Rahic gone before Grayson, he would have stayed and done a better job than anyone since.

I can't remember the last match i truly enjoyed. Perhaps Stevenage at home under Deluded Derek.
