If we can only recall him in the transfer window, what is stopping us bringing him back now before the current window shuts? Apart from denting Mark Hughes pride, we should be be giving him another shot with us

Regardless of whatever went on with Hughes, up until his recent form with Swindon, the lad hasn't done anything at any of his previous clubs to suggest he is a 20+ a season striker.
Eion Doyle was different in that he was a proven player who failed miserably at City.
Bringing back a young lad who is clearly unhappy at City is a waste of time. Get him in the shop window, scoring goals and let's cash in on that.

Personally I couldn’t care less, there’s no friends or loyalty in business. They have a powerful weapon that could fire us to promotion instead of them, Hughes has sent him to Swindon with the message of “prove me wrong kid”. Maybe that’s what was required to spur him on too. Nothing wrong with MH recalling him, swallowing his pride and telling him this is his chance!

Assuming he is on a Standard Loan it can not be done (except for discipline reasons and then with mutual agreement).

Standard Loan transfers shall only be approved in accordance with following provisions: 56.1.1 subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Transfer Windows, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season; 56.1.2 any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the Winter Transfer Window

Unless Hughes changes the way he sets the team up, it's pointless bringing him back. It's scandalous that we still play with one isolated player up top both home and away. Bringing him back would see his form and value dip. As it stands he'd probably be behind Cook, Oliver and Smith for that role.
