Dack just married Olivia Attwood from Love Island. If the chance of Wrexham and that documentary presents itself I can see her pushing him into it. They will do pretty much anything to raise their profile.

It's all about the level of the fee. DMAC gets some stick about how he runs Peterborough but when they sell a player it's usually multi £M which they then reinvest.

If we sold Lewis for £500k, would that really benefit us?
He still has 2 years left on his deal so at this stage £500k wouldn't be very appealing.
In 12 months time it may be a different equation.

I think Dacks fitness might be why he has to drop to this level. He's started just 20 games over the last 3 seasons and by all accounts was a shell of the player he was before doing his ACLs in both knees.

He's been trying to get in on the reality TV stuff his now wife gets on, they have a massive mansion in Cheshire, so he's practically on the doorstep. Unless one of the dropped L1 boys like a Wigan or Bolton offer him a deal, i think the Wrexham money might be his best bet.

I dont think a Lewis sale will ever benefit us financially, because nobody pays big money for keepers at this level.

I reckon £250K-£500k is the ball park on a best case scenario. Looking through more modern keeper transfer fees at this level and someone like Andy Fisher might be the best case for a Lewis comparison. He left Blackburn aged 22 in the summer of 2020 and went to MK Dons, had his first proper run in the team as a number 1 in L1 and was a success. Then had 6 more months at MK before leaving to become Swansea number one in January 2022 for £400K. Aynsley Pears is probably the next best comparison, he had a successful loan at Gateshead in 18/19, then Middlesbrough gave him the starting job in 19/20 but he wasn't ready. Blackburn signed him in the summer of 2020 for £380K and after some in and out spells it looks like he is now their number 1 going forward.

There haven't been many but the guys who are being sold for 6 figure fees are younger than Lewis, but have similar experience and the clubs haven't been breaking that £500K mark.

I dont see him picking anybody at L1 or L2 level over Wrexham. Smart money says he will be in L1 with Wrexham in just 12 months anyway. Only 29 so still has time on his side.

Like you said, he is wanting to raise his profile and Wrexham can do that better than anyone outside the PL.

Surely we just keep him. If we can get into League One in the next couple of seasons, then Lewis has a decision to make at the end of his contract. His experience at Southampton will mean he will want some guarantees about being the No 1.

    If a club offer £1m + sell on/appearance clauses then that's different.

We would have to find a capable replacement. TBF we have had some very solid keepers over the years so I would trust the club with that. Second of all, you would hope it would be invested in a 'Charlie Wyke type signing'.

He wont be going anywhere this summer IMO. If we do not get promoted this coming season he will be off if an offer comes in.

Exactly, I don't see any sense in going to a Stoke type, to sit on the bench again. I cant see anyone offering more than 300K ish if I'm honest. Maybe if he was 21/22 but he's turning 26 this year and has only 1 seasons experience under his belt with some obvious experience flaws in his game that needs time to improve. That will be every clubs major bargaining over price chip that will be played against City if any talks began.

I cant see a club in L1 or the champ throwing high 6 figures at us for a keeper with his CV at the minute, another impressive season under his belt and it's another story.

He isn't the player he was back in his Gillingham or early Blackburn days, he's completed 90 minutes just 6 times since December 2019. He might want big money but a club needs to be very confident in his fitness to offer him big money.

Doesn't look like they are shy of a few quid looking at the pictures of their mansion, his missus wedding dress from the weekend cost a cool £30K  don't think he's going to be too fussed over the money aspect of it all, but the publicity might be a big factor.

If a good offer came from higher there is no way we keep him it’s counter productive to have an unhappy player and the performance level will drop. You have to play fair to the player if he wants a good move. It’s the way of the world at this level.

Thats a great call and something that high profile celebrity couples will definitely consider. These couples would literally go to the opening of an envelope if it meant some publicity as they are media obsessed and Reynolds and McElhenney know this. Means they can attract a calibre of player no one in league 2 could.

It's what you define as a 'good offer'?
The player has to continue performing or the move higher up never comes.

He didn’t say it in such stark terms . That’s how I “ read “ his response to mean. Happy to clarify.

Lewis value, both as a player and personality is worth much more than £500k to us. However been realistic as you say, keepers at our level at Harry’s age and experience it’s unlikely of a bid that high.

Therefore if a bid comes in I hope and sure we will do all we can to keep him, but Sparks honesty is fair in that it’s in no one’s interest or fair if Harry himself wants to move on to opportunities above us.

Let’s see. I’d be surprised and very disappointed if Lewis leaves and believe given his career to date and interviews he’s given, one more season with us is in his interest.

Frankly he wouldn’t interest me, fitness and especially someone hanging to his celebrity wife’s coat tails. No thanks .

    Well Watt did leave.

We’ll receive offers for Lewis more than what we would have received for Cook. I have no problem with what Sparks said about that situation.

I have read all these posts abut recruitment. Not one mentions the possibility, the remote possibility, that we might have one of our own Juniors being even on the fringe of the squad. Can this be a satisfactory state of affairs?
