I agree with them re: Stockport. I don't think we'll need to chase them down, ultimately, and think 2nd is very feasible. I wouldn't even think Orient necessarily beat them, either.

I think it's us vs Northampton for 3rd.

Obviously not to discount Stevenage or Carlisle, what I mean is: Northampton are the most likely team not named Bradford City to steal 3rd.

Remaining fixtures for us, Northampton, Stevenage & Carlisle. I think it's 2 of these 4 that get automatically promoted.

    City:
    Swindon (A)
    Gillingham (H)
    Northampton (A)
    Crewe (A)
    Orient (H)

    Northampton:
    Sutton (A)
    Harrogate (H)
    City (H)
    Tranmere (A)

    Stevenage:
    Doncaster (H)
    Mansfield (A)
    Swindon (A)
    Grimsby (H)
    Barrow (A)

    Carlisle:
    Stockport (H)
    Barrow (A)
    Salford (H)
    Sutton (A)

Might get shot in the foot with this but I dont think Carlisle have the bottle to do it, or the fixtures. They don't play anyone lower than 10th for the rest of the season and have just 1 win in 6, scored just 2 goals in those 6 and in 2 of those games the opposition had 10 men. Carlisle won't make it.

Looking at the others, I reckon Northampton will take one spot because their fixtures are just easier. Sutton are in free fall, Harrogate look poor and Tranmere have nothing to play for, they'll pick up points unless they have a meltdown of pressure. They probably need 7 points to secure it.

I think it's a shootout between us and Stevenage, the game in hand teams to get there, with 10 points probably ending up being enough. In the reverse fixtures of the 5 coming up for City, we got just 1 win against the 5 coming up and 5 points from 15. Stevenage reverse against their 5 lead to 11 points from 15, with 3 wins and 2 draws. Evans' experience of this level might be key, as they shown yesterday they can win and play poorly. But.... there's no way to count out these underdog Bantams at the minute. When Stubbs signed we were 9th and 16 points off the automatic spots, we are THAT team that always goes on the charge every season. Going to the wire this one.

Stockport are very much in the race too. They have the best goal difference. Game on Tues at Carlisle is tricky on paper, but as you said Carlisle are struggling and cant score, I think County win this. Then home to Rochdale (which will probably be when Dale get relegated). Away to Orient who likely already won the league and then Home to Hartlepool.
I think Stockport will finish above Carlisle and Stevenage

Knew I'd forget one half awake looking through fixtures this morning. I flicked over on ifollow after our game was wrapped up between that and the Stevenage game, neither team looked good. To be fair Gillingham should have wrapped that game up.

I don't see a winner in their Tuesday game, don't think they'll get beat Orient away, guessing that will be the trophy lift day at home for Orient? If Hartlepool need a win to stay up, I wouldn't want to call that one as Hartlepool have taken points of us, Orient, Stevenage & Northampton lately.

Harrogate do look poor and aren't out of danger yet as they are currently just 3 points above the drop, although they do have a game in hand over those below them. It would be nice if Crawley and Hartlepool could win on Tuesday night and Harrogate draw or lose to keep the pressure on them needing points going into next Saturday. Then all we need is the city B team to bring their A game against Northampton.

I’m not worried about Swindon, Northampton or Crewe as I think we’ll win all of them.
It’ll be next week at home to Gills and the failure to beat already champions Orient in their flip flops which will maybe see us miss out.

Stockport, Orient, Mansfield, us & Carlisle have two matches (at least - Orient have 3) against a promotion rival. We can rule Salford out of the automatics, so that means that at least 2 points will be dropped by Carlisle, Stockport & Mansfield. As Stevenage can get 86 points, that is the maximum that is going to be required for promotion. If we win four and draw at Northampton, we end up on 84, and so will Northampton if they win the rest, and we have a better GD.

    Fixtures
    Played Left Points Max 18-Apr 22-Apr 25-Apr 29-Apr 03-May 08-May
    Orient 41 5 84 99 Gillingham Crewe Mansfield Stockport N/a City
    Northampton 42 4 74 86 Sutton Harrogate N/a City N/a Tranmere
    Stevenage 41 4 73 85 Doncaster Mansfield Swindon Grimsby N/a Barrow
    Stockport 42 4 71 83 Carlisle Rochdale N/a Orient N/a Hartlepool
    Carlisle 42 4 71 83 Stockport Barrow N/a Salford N/a Sutton
    Bradford City 41 5 71 86 Swindon Gillingham N/a Northants Crewe Orient
    Mansfield 41 5 66 81 Newport Stevenage Orient Harrogate N/a Colchester

I do believe we’ll take one of the auto spots but we won’t win the next 5 games.
Can anyone remember the last time we won 7 in a row ?

Let’s look at this from the ‘glass half empty’ perspective.

    Making the ‘Play Off’s’!

If Salford were to win all their remaining games, they could get 78 points.

We need 9 points from our last five games to ensure a ‘Play Off’ place.

So 3 wins; or 2 wins plus 3 draws would be enough to secure a spot in the ‘Play Off’s’.

Hopefully we can secure an automatic place (however I bet Andy Cook would like the potential three extra games to ratchet up his goals for the season tally).

I bet you £1000 that Andy Cook absolutely doesn’t want 3 extra games.

Think we are more than capable of picking up 3 wins from those last 5 games. I think that may be enough for the autos.

As I've posted elsewhere, let's get VP rocking next week. Gillingham are very there for the taking as you and I experienced in February. That game is incredibly important next Saturday. We can beat them and as supporters, let's all back em 100%

Glass half full? 15 points is the aim. Nothing less

(I get the sentiment of your post though don't necessarily buy the Cook 3 extra games)

Your correct it might be that we accumulate enough points that we dont need 5 more wins, my point is with 5 wins we get automatic promotion without having to look for other teams results.

If only we’d have won all 41 of our games. We’d be on the beach now not worrying about other teams.

Stevenage have the hardest run in, followed closely by Carlisle, then us. We have nothing to fear

Who would have thought 1 nil down at Stevenage at half time that fast forward to now and we’d be within 2 points of them with 5 games left! Fantastic run we are on and need to keep the momentum going by putting Swindon to the sword
