Maybe security/stewards outside should be a little more diligent when searching fans they know the demographics of the type of fans who would try and get these pyrotechnics into a football stadium.

I completely agree, but on Saturday standing was widespread everywhere. We were right over to the right of the stand but people in the rows in front stood up almost universally. We moved so I was at the end of a row and could see. A young family joined us in front after about 30 minutes. There were very few places where you could actually sit to see the game.

My bag got a brief look (a woman in her 60's) but my son, mid 30s was not searched at all. Very easy to get pyrotechnics into the Doncaster stadium.

Some good points in there. I wonder those letting off smokebombs would be happy to put their hand in their pocket and put toward any fine the club could get. Pure madness and quite pathetic to use them at any time.

Seems a scourge in todays game. Cannot honestly remember them being used in the 80's/90's when I travelled to many an away game.

As an away fan, football is much, much safer now than the 80's regardless of the odd smoke bomb being thrown.

Great atmosphere and great result but what disappointed me were the people who were stood behind the goal right in front of several disabled supporters in wheelchairs. They had no chance to see the game after the goal was scored. Some supporters just have no consideration for others less fortunate than themselves.

There was similar at the Salford match with the standing section behind the goal with fans stood on the pitchside barrier rather than in the stand itself which meant lots of fans couldn't see most of the penalty area that we were attacking even after some asked them to go back to the stands as children couldn't see.

Yes you can think you have a good vantage seat then some plonker comes late and decides they are standing even though their in row "C" there's no hope for fans like these.
We got in around 20 minutes before kick off and found 4 seats together to the left of the goal row "D" or "E" I believe and luckily no one stood up apart from when we attacked ETC and that is to be expected certainly the second half when they attacked our end.

It's quite bizarre why some fans want to stand when they have a perfectly fine seat allocated to them.

I would be willing to bet that these people don't have a father, grandfather, or any other older relative with back/joint problems and really aren't capable of standing for lengthy periods without pain. If they're at the back of the stand, fine, but it's inexcusable to do it in the front rows.

    Completely agree.

They should also have sniffer dogs to put people off attempting to bring drugs into stadia, and where possible (ie if there's an away following of 1k+) introduce breathalysers to avoid people drunk out of their minds coming in and frightening kids, intimidating the vulnerable and just generally being embarrassing idiots. Pretty sure it's an offence to enter a football ground drunk, so why is it not enforced?

They had sniffer dogs at Orient actually, first time I'd seen them and they seemed to be thorough with the bag searches too

Great atmosphere & following on Saturday, but it did get pretty dangerous with overcrowding in the aisles & front areas in near the goal. My view is that the DRFC stewards lost the plot. The approach was right, but there were not enough of them there to control a following of 4,000 fans.

Now we have all been young once & acted like dickheads, so as I’m now in my 50s who am I to stop the ‘Yuff’ enjoying a day on the piss at an away game… we have all done it! Saying that It would have been bloody easy to identify one of the lads who set a smoke bombs off at h/t as his hand was bright orange when he came back into the stand! Police & stewards showed no interest. Turnstile searches of easy targets like myself outside the ground will do nothing to stop pyros & more importantly drugs getting inside the stadium.

Good away day, but at times I now think it’s time for me to move over to the side of the stand I’m getting too old for ‘Limbs’ but still believe that unallocated seating should be the norm at away games.

Given the history of our club and previous statements on the matter, the use of flares is out of order. But people seem to want to ignore our history and club statements anyway. It’s like talking to a brick wall with some people.

Your comments regarding Stewards is spot on , not enough of them to control the crowd. I too wished I had moved away from the front but with a sell out crowd it wasn’t easy to see any empty seats at the side. Just give us unreserved seating.
