Absolutely love Harry Lewis. Strong keeper but looks a real character too and here he is joining in with the chants. Enjoy him while he’s here, Bantams, as he’s Championship bound at some point (hopefully with us!)

Have to agree. We need a contract extension sorting I believe?

His enthusiasm is really infectious. Don’t know if you saw the interview, but his mum and brother attended the Mansfield game. He’s a very likeable young fella and a breath of fresh air in the squad.

I agree, some grease air is exactly what we need!

First game of the season that I could watch at a reasonable hour while “working from home”. Great performance, everyone battled so hard for the points. Some takeaway points for me:

Platt - always looks solid, the ref should be investigated for match fixing with the red card and the 12 minutes added time
Halliday - starting to look like a lower league Kyle Walker these last few games
Eisa - looked exciting when he came on, hopefully he gets more minutes against Sutton
Cook - Can’t win a header, can’t hold the ball up, doesn’t make grea runs but then goes and scores a brilliant individual goal, but that’s league 2 I guess.

Overall excellent if not nerve wracking, but where’s the excitement without it?

Watch Lewis when cook scores. He is like a 12 year old skipping and dancing. Superb.

I don't quite get the panic about him leaving.

Remember, this is his first season of first team footie. He's clearly very grateful to the club for giving him a chance. Now, if we don't get promoted maybe he goes.

But who's these Championship teams that's going to suddenly pay good money for a goalie that's had half a season, when they can get loanees from places like The Premiership?

No. If we get promoted, I don't see a threat. OK a couple of seasons in L1 and if we're not making progress - then yes, off he goes. And we make some money, if we're wise.

Who is bloody panicking. It’s an observation.

Seeing as you asked the question…Mark Schwartzer …how many games did he play before we LOST him to some second rate PREMIERSHIP club…Middlesbrough . 16 was it?

Case rested, come back when you know how to reply to people who have a tad more knowledge than oneself.

Love your last line. You think trolling through the past and desperately picking one case that suits your argument is you having "a tad more knowledge"

I'd say the opposite!! Schwartzer, was taken from us when we'd just got promoted to The Championship (as it is now known). If you remember we struggled badly that season and he left us when we were in the bottom four. So, to him it looks like the club is going backwards (i.e. could get relegated)

Plus we made a £1.15m profit from this sale. That's the equivalent of at least £1.5m now (more of this later)

So the Schwartzer vulnerability, was totally different to now. You've plucked his name out of the air, without studying the background to his transfer. That's not a "tad more knowledge", it's just a bit lazy.

Let's see if I can explain why I have no fears of Harry Lewis leavin another way, without upsetting you
    1. He appreciates the club has giving him a chance. That is crystal clear for how warmly he talks about the club.
    2. He has a relationship from Hughes from their time in Southampton.
    3. There is no financial pressure to sell. Why would Rupp want to ruin a potential promotion by letting him go in January?
    4. Nobody's going to come in with a daft offer in January, based on half a season. Not least because lots of Championship clubs are still reeling from Covid. However if we can get £1.5m for Harry Lewis right now, i.e. the equivalent of what we got for Schwartzer - I'm thinking maybe we let him go :p

Average keepers are two a penny in the league, i've seen enough in a dozen games to see this lad ain't playing in league 2 next season. Wether that be with us or another team remains to be seen but i saw enough in Pickford after 12 or so games to decide he would have a career further up the league pyramid.

Totally agree. But that's my point. I don't see a January raid as a reality.

End of season, if we don't go up - perhaps, I'd wouldn't say it was a cert. Probably depend if Hughes was still around.

But as we have a two year deal, we can still sell for an inflated fee, if we keep our nerve. Either way it's been very good business by the club, who seem to have improved their transfer policies over the last couple of years.

It would have to take a bid that the club feels is enough to make them happy and it would have to take Lewis to carry on his excellent form but I can't see him being here next season if we don't go up. As for January worse things have happened but l would at least expect to him to see the season out at VP.
