For City and Hughes, attention quickly turns to the final knockings of the transfer window, with the manager stating he expects to bring a couple more players in before the Thursday evening deadline. Given City’s mixed start to the season, further reinforcements can only be welcomed. WOAP has heard some promising noises over who might be lined up to come in. We’ll keep what we think we know quiet for now though, so we don’t jinx anything.

 

Hughes seemed quite bullish last night too. His answer wasn't the usual 'well lets wait and see'. He was very direct. 'Yes, we expect to bring in a couple, which will be exciting' or words to that effect.

 

I alluded the same on Monday. Bet the deals were done last week?

 

Without knowing who or what position we are looking to sign I can’t see anybody leaving, we have good competition for places which we need, and on top of that it’s the first time since I can remember that I’m happy with or happy to persevere with every member of our squad, there’s usually always a good handful I don’t rate or whatever.

 

I think we will see a left back and a centre midfielder coming in. Probably some highly rated young players from Prem/Champ level.

 

Just watching Sky news and Wharton made his full league debut tonight,got MOTM and the Sky bloke said he looked very comfortable at this level so might be a bit out of our league.

I hope you're right SP. I'm a big fan of Cook and one of his biggest supporters pre season when the same was suggested but I've just got a feeling we may be looking to balance the books a bit.

 

Yes let's get rid of our top scorer so we can balance the books, give your head a shake will you.

 

Saw Jamie Walker after the game coming out of the players entrance foot in plaster and on crutches, can`t see him back playing soon.

 

Foot? I thought it was his knee he had surgery on.

 

Bad news that and a real shame, we really are unlucky with injuries. I'd say we need an out and out direct winger and a good ball playing CM, if it's possible to find such players and are better than what we currently have then we would have a very good side for L2.

Well I'm hoping to see Dion back in claret and amber today but if it doesn't materialise we still need a LW. Possibly could compromise on that if a better number 10 was available which would allow Chapman to play wide.

As for the second, I'd like a dynamic, box to box type midfielder to play alongside smallwood. Gilliead has done well so far but seems to be picking up a few injuries and Sutton doesn't seem up to it for me. Smallwood and East is a bit too safe for me, especially at home.

 

One of the incomings must be Andy Carroll.
