I would presume that if the player in question is a forward, it will mean Cook will be moved on. I wouldn't be averse to that IF we bring in better, but I would question whether a 35 year old that scored 1 goal last season and none the season prior to that is that player, regardless of what league he's coming from.

 

No disrespect to Mark but I doubt he knows any more that posters on here, unless of course Rayn wanted the name leaking .

 

Also, not a premier league player.

Fair points. Long would be a very exciting addition on the face of it. However, he's a player who's always relied on pace. Does he still have it? We've seen before players who play at the highest levels losing their pace and then struggling in the lower leagues.

 

“Only here” means the signing is already complete? As opposed to “he’s only coming because…”

 

And always on a considerable amount of money.
Is it worth the risk?

 

Sorry but for me it sounds a little like when things are going well then suddenly everyone wants to be seen to be in the "in crowd" so people appear saying bits and bobs giving the impression that they are in the know and part of what's going on when really they aren't.

Would he be an exciting addition? Honestly, if it was a choice between Long or Cook, I'd rather stick with Cook, and that's coming from someone who would be happy for Cook to be replaced IF we can bring in better.

I honestly don't think it'd be a money thing. I'm hoping our days of handing out fat contracts for final pay days are gone. IF its true, it sounds like a case of a senior pro who just wants to play regularly and who has a great relationship with Hughes. So presumably someone he's managed. Long, Allen, Berahino all fit that bill.

As you say,IF it’s true then it would put down a massive marker about where the club is at.
I would also slightly agree with @Botswana Bantam comment a few posts ago about certain people wanting to jump on the positivity bandwagon and appear to be “in the know” when they actually know as much as you and I.
