We can definitely do that too, especially with experienced players. I told you all Tom Elliot was crap and got hammered for being negative.

Doesn't affect me in the slightest though as over the years I've been proven right many, many more times than I've been proven wrong.

All that said, I'm OK (if not getting carried away) with the signings so far and very much happy to wait and see.

I’m not ok with the signings so far. With the exception of walker who is a known entity, we have signed players with potential, with minimal league experience. None of the signings have proven they are good enough for league football, and I’m worried we are desperately lacking in experience. People may say it’s negative, but in truth, it’s the reality. I’m not writing off any of the signings we have made as they maybe world beaters, and I’ll wait and see. However at this moment we need a few proven quality players as this all seems like we’re taking a chance on unproven youth. It’s ok to have a few in your team and I’m all for that, but 4 out of the 5 are in the same vein.

I’d say the Angol was missed off your list.

I agree with that but my reasoning for being OK with it so far is that the experienced, proven players will have far more options so if we do manage to bring any in it'll obviously be much later in the window.

We definitely do need a few of that ilk though and it's about whether you trust Sparks and Hughes to deliver them.

It's not even the end of May yet, the transfer window hasn't actually opened and of the 4 players we've signed so far that are completely new to us, there is clearly a plan behind it - players that can play in the way Hughes wants us to play, and with lots of potential to develop. Of course we need to bring in experience as well, but to be stating you aren't happy before the window has even opened is a little bit premature to say the least.
Rather than thinking what we've brought in so far are going to be guaranteed starters, try to look at it this way - would you rather we'd offered deals to the likes of Elliott, Delfouneso, Lavery, Robinson and Evans? I know they aren't like for like replacements, but for me, I'm far happier having players like Lewis, Platt, Young and East in the squad going forward into next season than those wasters.

We need another two or three players who are the same caliber as Jamie Walker if we are serious about promotion.

It's positive that we are signing players who were a part of teams that were challenging for promotion, but both Young and East were bit part players really. If you were picking players to sign from our 2013 promotion winning team, you wouldn't decide to build your side around Alan Connell and Zavon Hines. It's not that they were bad players, they were decent league two players with some better players around them.

It's still early days though, the best players will have more options and hence more time to decide.

I did say I’m not happy with the signings SO FAR. I appreciate there is still time to bring in proven quality experience. I was pointing out that our signings so far don’t have that. I agree that the players signed so far can’t be any worse than some of the dross that departed.

Hornby won’t be playing along with Andy cook, Hendrie hasn’t signed. That leaves Ridhalge, songo, walker, eisa and gillead. A whole 5 players of a 22-23 man squad. Thanks for reinforcing my point with regards to quality and experience.

There is plenty of experience in there in any case it’s ability rather than experience that counts. It’s about scouting finding talent rather than relying on known fading players willing to drop to league two. A balanced side is what is required which I am sure MH is aware of and when the squad is complete I am sure it will be

I have no idea whether this lad is a replacement for Watt and if he is let's see him in action in a City shirt before assuming he isn't good enough to replace Watt or anyone else.
Citing previous playing statistics is meaningless unless you add context to them eg why he played for the number of minutes he did etc. Then they would be a useful yardstick. But on their own they don't offer a true insight into the player and what formations he plays best in etc. Look at Eoin Doyle as an example. Came her with an excellent CV and look what happened. Left us and tore up the league with Swindon. Same player different players around him etc.

I wasn't aware Charlie Wyke was in "Peaky Blinders" if not he's a ringer for Tommy Shelby.
