Strange how people think if you’ve never heard of a player they must be shit.
If every player we tried to sign were household names then they wouldn’t be coming here.
How many people had heard of Hanson, Wells and the trio of Rochdale rejects who didn’t do too badly for us.
Jones, McArdle and Darby in case you were wondering.

It is light years more organised and professional than it was 12 months ago.

Don't think there is much negativity K, most of us are in the wait and see camp but also optimistic. Mark clearly wants legs, mobility and enthusiasm and has been working to bring in the players early and not wait for other clubs to sign them. Obviously, he will need some experience to temper and balance and I am sure he is working on that. I look forward to not having to rely on the likes of Robinson, Lavery, Elliot and the guy we borrowed from Bolton to come off the bench and change the game.

Suspect a lot of the budget will go on a goalscorer and a decent experienced defender or midfielder. Of he gets the spine right, the rest will fall into place around it.

Doubt it. He'll have come to start. He's done the squad thing at Swindon and now wants to be in the team.

Bringing in players from clubs who've been in and around the promotion race is much better in my eyes than those from Scunthorpe and other relegation threatened teams.

We had a big squad last year. It just wasn't good enough. In fact, if anything, I'd want us to have a smaller squad that focuses more on quality.

Theres a plan Kev, as we know not all plans come to fruition, Hughes included in his management career. But a manager of Hughes calibre has to be respected, and as such I will for now trust in what he sees fit to bring to the club.

I see what Hughes is doing. He's filling the team full of youthful running, 10 men who can do the job of 11, so he can play himself upfront !!!

I am struggling to remember a ore season like this. When nobody seems to know who we are signing. The management and recruitment team have been getting on with the job quietly. We have a plan on how we are going to play and plan of the type of players that are required. We have been screaming out for this for a very long time.
It is exciting not knowing who is coming next.

That's good to hear Rog-we all need to be pulling in the right direction. All these negative Nellies can do one.

Young McCall, Hendrie, Ellis, Goodman, Wells etc turned out okay. I trust the due diligence of Hughes, Hodges, Gent and his contacts than anyone on here.

Welcome to the club, never heard of him but hope he does well.

Sounds like he’s a holding midfielder which I’m happy we’ve brought one in early. We have two at the club in Watt and Songo’o and one has played CB since January, forcing Watt to play with wingers like Gilliead and Evans out of position.

If Watt stays we still need two more, when you play a 4231 or 433 you need more holding midfielders than strikers at your club for balance yet we had far less and about 3 journeymen strikers on the bench! This is part of the reason we’ve been so unbalanced, hopefully this lad has been brought in to address that and give much needed competition in the area Watt or no Watt.

    Another signing notably under 25.

Another signing wanting to prove himself.

Another signing of a player who likes to get on the ball.

Like a few others have said I will pass proper judgement when I have seen him play in a City shirt but so far happy with the type of player we are recruiting and its still May.

As for the current lack of experience being signed does that really matter IF the player fits into what system and style MH is looking for? The players have all said they are looking forward to working with MH, so player development was obviously discussed before they were signed.

Agreed. These are obviously players Hughes wants to sign (albeit maybe within budget constraints) and not last minute deadline day panic buys

I’m not ok with the signings so far. With the exception of walker who is a known entity, we have signed players with potential, with minimal league experience. None of the signings have proven they are good enough for league football, and I’m worried we are desperately lacking in experience. People may say it’s negative, but in truth, it’s the reality. I’m not writing off any of the signings we have made as they maybe world beaters, and I’ll wait and see. However at this moment we need a few proven quality players as this all seems like we’re taking a chance on unproven youth. It’s ok to have a few in your team and I’m all for that, but 4 out of the 5 are in the same vein.

We are clearly signing players Hughes and Hodges think they can improve and that has to be welcomed and gives us potential revenue down the line. Robinson and Lavery offered no such possibility. Once you move a few up the leagues it makes you more attractive to the next players looking for a move. Looks like some semblance of planning, finally.

we will add experience later, maybe even by loans if needed.

    Could try coaching them.

Hopefully the days of extremely high player turnover is over.
