Felt it was a reasonable response to a personal insult.

I'll hazard a guess that Mr Gibb believes that there's a distinct chance that 'we may fall on our arse'. He's attempting to ensure that the investment via his pension fund is stable and not under threat from people implementing risky strategies.

I find it interesting that this has happened now. He's either decided he wants to part own a football club again and he can make money through purchasing it. Or he believes that if he doesn't buy it then his investment is under threat. I don't believe someone as successful and shrewd as Gibb would go into something like this, and make it public, without there being a very good reason for doing so.

I think the present owners are running the club precisely this way to make sure we do have a future.

Possibly, but retail covers a wide range of outlets. Just think housing woulda go down great in that location. Who on earth would want to live there? Dump.

    A very well balanced post
He has got to protect the pension funds interest nobody including the directors know what's in store this season. Should the worst come to the worst and crowds drop further or if as some think we lose a relegation battle and drop a division he could struggle to get paid his rent. As you say a very shrewd man. Can't see Mr Tordoff being interested at the minute tho at his age he will be wanting to wind down his business interests and as Bronco has already intimated his sons have other interests. Personally have no axe to grind with Mr Gibb and could be a good thing but can't see the current owners selling until if and when the plan fails Comforting to know someone is " waiting in the wings"

Desperate for a new scapegoat eh, you've not had a good word to say about the last two sets of owners, and if these got in the knives would be out within months, especially as there is no chance they would spend to your unrealistic expectations.

I'd no problem with the last set of owners. However, when it was clear they couldn't take the club forward then I wanted them out but to their credit they admitted that they couldn't and sold the club.

The last owners sold the club to people they thought were richer than them who would spend money to drive us into the championship but unless you were born yesterday then you will be able to see that these owners have no ambition and are using the club as a play thing.

You obviously have no idea how football clubs are run that's fine.

Also these two who you are desperate to get in wouldn't spend their own money either, what then?

I’d prefer to stick with Rupp and Rahic at the minute. This season is the first time we will operate under pretty much their own structure and ideas, with no hangovers on and off the pitch from previous.

If it falls on its arse then we can’t say they haven’t tried it. These ideas don’t get implemented overnight, they are entering their third season and their path and vision is clear.

I’m looking forward to seeing what happens.

But dont you think it strange that this will be their 3rd season and it has taken that long to fully implement their model, if it wasnt possible during their first season they should have made sure it could be functioning in the second season, even if that ment sacking Stuart, it wouldn't have been liked by many fans but it wasn't liked in February even with their bad run explanation.

They couldnt sack Stuart after he'd taken us to Wembley and come so close. The club would have imploded, the reaction mid season after a losing streak was bad enough.

Plus they had season tickets to sell

This is what I believe he meant by " we have learned from our mistakes". They should have sacked Stuart after Wembley and gone ahead with their philosophy.

From a business perspective I agree with a lot of the owners decisions

Nope when the shirt sponsorship first changed, it was because he was told we could do better than JCT600's offer, we went off to Bradford and Bingley who offered a little extra then of course went tits-up, like we did with the fly by night Intersonic(?) who briefly took over the stadium sponsorship before going bust.

I believe it was under Peter Etherington's short reign - hacked off a lot of long term sponsors for a few extra quid and paid no attention to longevity of loyalty that they had shown through the years.
