The ex Russian Eastern Europe Countries are lovely, but for political reasons and until things change we won’t be going back anytime soon. Budapest Parliament building and Castle is gobsmacking..to name but one. We could all go on, but until COVID’s ugly face is still about , we won’t be flying anytime soon, sadly.

When I went to Paris I threw up in a bin in the airport due to a disgusting smell, the whole city felt like that for me but for the normal tourist spots. One of the most overrated city’s going for me. South of France is stunning mind, but you’ll struggle to find a more expensive country!

Ive been a few times for work, but with the exception of Lille, which we enjoyed a lot. ( Before England fans rocked up). France as a country has the lot to choose from to suit every taste. With some exceptions of course Capital Cities are dumps when you look through the facade.

London ….A classic example , I detest with an absolute passion for so, so many ways.

I agree you want to go to Canberra, I called it Shipley in the sun. Terrible place. Often they’re overcrowded and over priced.

Best avoid Denmark, Sweden and Norway then! A few years back I won a fly drive holiday to Denmark. It was a good job we only had to pay for food, drink and entertainment as the prices were astronomical. Lovely country though.

Sweden and Denmark are outstanding, fortunately it was on full expenses! What’s not to like?

For us northerners, the good old Hull-Zeebrugge ferry has now gone, otherwise a good outing!

That's useful to know, Ann. I'll be traveling from Fano to Bologna by train on 12th July. I'll bear it in mind.

I absolutely love Italy. The people are friendly, so many stunning places to visit, and the endlessly varied regional cuisines. Fantastic. I can't wait to go back in July.
I've only been to Paris once, for three days. TBH it underwhelmed me.

A few years ago we drove to Italy. I am thinking of doing it again next year. As posted previously the Hull-Zeebrugge ferry no longer operates ,so looking at Hull-Rotterdam. Will break the journey in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains probably Riquewhir for a few nights, next drive down to Bellagio on Lake Como again say three nights, then onto Tuscany probably somewhere in the Empoli/Florence/Sienna triangle. The benefit is I can load up with wine, often not readily available in the UK, have a number of breaks trying different food, and of course taking in the scenery.

Its very cheap, and the TGV’s we went on between Milan and Verona were extremely nice first class, black leather upholstery etc etc.

I went skiing in Bellagio in the early 80s when I was in the army...I recall a drunken swim in Lake Como in February (twas a tad chilly).
It was a beautiful place then and I hope it has aged better that I have.

Verona is lovely. I went with wife and friends a few years back. We had some great scran. Also watched Carmen and Turandot live in the open air amphitheatre. Awesome experience. Unfortunately, Turendot got rained off halfway through the second half, so we never got to hear Nessun Dorma.

It was. Sad that it's gone. We went to Amsterdam via that route years ago.
