I'd be extremely happy if Jewell was in as DoF.

I thought the club weren't interviewing until Thursday at the earliest? Unless Sparks panicked after the Harrogate game and decided we need someone in immediately?

 

Probably the case. Trueman has lost his last 9 matches in charge at League Two level, he's well out of his depth as first team manager.

 

Jewell and Wellens both at the game yesterday so Sparks saved time and interviewed them last night. What he's learnt from this experience is that it isn't pizza that gets deals over the line, it's pie and peas.

If true I’d be happy with Wellens and Jewell above him, it fell apart at Swindon but only after some very dodgy dealings by their owner during a global pandemic and losing all their best players.

Give them time to create and build an identity if so.

In an ideal world Rupp would loan the club say a million Ala Lawn, then we invest in better coaching, sports science and scouting structures. All remaining funds put into a quality over quantity squad which matched said style of play, younger players who can play a high energy game with some experience sprinkled in there.

Then if Sparks came out and asked for time, asked us to be realistic say it’s a two year plan to really go for the title in year two and create a squad that can compete in league 1.

Then I think fams would have more respect for the regime and give it time to work.

 

Wellens wouldn't be my first chance, but it could have been a lot worse.

Pleased a DOF is being appointed. It will help put a football infrastructure together.
We need to make sure we're not starting again every time we appoint a new Manager.

With Jewell being local too, it could be a role he fills for a number of years.

 

I don’t know who my first choice would be anymore tbh, all I know is in recent years even when doing average under Bowyer and mid table under Adams any loss was greeted with huge discontent. The fan base has evolved in the last 6/7 years most won’t stand for old fashioned football anymore, if Parky came back and wasn’t winning most games fans would start to turn on him. So with this in mind I think we need to have an eye on style of football not just experience or who’s done it before. I believe Wellens likes to play attacking football so maybe given more time than and Evans who’s look to grind out results of instance.
