Fowler will know next to nothing about players at this level and the one below. He'd be landing into a club that has no real footballing infrastructure in place to support him.

IF, he were appointed as part of a plan to forge links with Liverpool, and to go after the best young attacking talent at L2 and NL level on the basis of learning under one of the best natural strikers ever produced by this country, it could work. But we wouldn't do that. He'd just be left to it.

    It'd be a disaster.

On Evans I see two major issues as many have alluded to already:
    1) he has previous with us and that counts against him for a lot of fans
    2) he's done nowt of note for a good few years now as manager

As some who's lived in Liverpool for most of my life, and has loads of Everton season ticket holders as mates, it's very reminiscent of Rafa at Goodison. And look how that turned out!

In 6-9 months after the first run of poor result he'll be gone as he'll have no credit with the fans and we go back to square one.

For me it has to be someone in the Woodgate mould - young, recently retired high profile ex-pro. We've gone down all the routes over recent years (experienced in lower leagues, ex players etc.) and this is the one path we're yet to tread. Combine it with a DoF/technical/sporting director who is here for the long term and we might get somewhere.

We can all suggest names for the next manager all with their pros and cons and ideas on how they'd fit in at VP. We might all have our personal preference but in a sense it's all irrelevant. Nobody knows what the owner's and CEO's plans are for the club and whether they have a long term view of what our club should look like next year, the year after and maybe in five years time. Our club needs a longer term view on the important stuff particularly, but not exclusively, on the playing front. Until we have that club-wide view on how we play, how we recruit, how we develop players, whether we intend to ever get out of this league and so on, picking a particular manager becomes pot luck and there is no guarantee that he would fit in with the owner's and CEO's (and fans'!) views on our future.

Appointing somebody who is just another sticking plaster to resolve a short term issue this season is just nonsense unless it's to gain some time whilst a more cohesive plan or vision is developed. There would of course be every likelihood we'd be in a similar position in 6 months or 12 months time looking to rebuild the latest manager's squad yet again. Unfortunately, I have little confidence in our absent, disinterested owner and inexperienced CEO ever developing anything which would resemble a proper vision for our club which would be viable .. and which fans would buy into.

I’m aware this is just a rumour but it is an account followed by players such as R O’D and let’s be honest wouldn’t be a surprise. That said we don’t really have a board…

Pete Wild moving in the market, now down to 3-1 with Bet Victor. Evans at 4/5, Fowler at 8/1.

Perhaps Fowler, ‘buying’ into the club, more of a McAnthony role. If Rahic could become a partner with Rupp, with only a proverbial couple of worn pfennigs to put together, then someone who has significant wealth, https://spearswms.com/robbie-fowler-net-worth/ knows ‘more about English football’, could be an attractive proposition, for a fresh partnership with Rupp. Perhaps not Manager per se, but a Managing Director, with a Coach, and possibly a Director of Football. Just trying to think outside the obvious solutions.

Grant McCann now 4/9 odds on with William Hill to be the new Peterborough manager. Safe to say that links done and dusted.

Our odds on WH, Evans 6/4, Wild 2/1, Fowler 8/1, Woodgate 9/1

Sounds like Fowler is a shrewd businessman. Or atleast, advised by someone shrewd. Pretty much excludes the idea of him buying in here.

It'll be Wild. Sparks will cave in to fan pressure and not appoint Evans. Wild is local, probably cheap. Nailed on

When the main options are Fowler, Woodgate and Wild then you really have to realise what a shit heap we’re in here. What a complete mess.
That is the most depressing list of candidates I have ever seen.

What makes you think Evans was/is on Sparks radar to cave in anyhow.

It would be a sidewards/backwards step moving from Halifax Town to Bradford City in this present era. They are a stable, well-run club on the up, and we're going backwards quicker than Adam Peaty doing the 50 metre backstroke.

Many of us would have thought it would be absurd to suggest Harrogate would be better than us a few years back, well, under the current regime it's nailed on Halifax will overtake us too.

If Wild had any nous about him he would reject any advance we make.

I'm not saying he is, but he's the odds on favourite with the bookies.

Are the short term appointments a desperate attempt to get into League 1, so Rupp can sell and say he left us where he found us?
