So why did McAnthony sack him and say it didn't work out there?

You’re right, madness indeed. But we don’t need Evans, I hear Matty Bates might be applying.

I read the article and 'liked' it. It's a fair point to say that we've never recovered from the troubles Richmond gave us.

Rupps biggest problem is entrusting others. If he looked into matters himself, he'll discover that during the past two season seasons only one club has got promotion with a manager not continuing from the previous season. Unless Swindon or Newport get promoted, that trend is almost certain going to continue.

i.e. the odds are stacked against if you don't employ a manager who had at least 10 to 15 games of the previous season

McAnthony is after a manager to promote and stabilize at Championship level. We could argue, that as we're two divisions off, we don't need to be quite that ambitious.

Has Bates taken a club to Top 10 in League One, for two consecutive seasons for the first time this century. If he has - then yes, he's a contender.

    I suspect you're been a bit silly.

We have a massive opportunity here, and appointing a caretaker manager on a deal to the end of the season, with the possibility that he takes over permanently, ruins that.

We need a complete reset, a coach with some experience and new ideas, with an experienced former manager as dof to manage the ethos.

Jewell fits the dof role perfectly, and the young gun could then be someone like Woodgate, wild or fowler.

Appointing Evans is predictable, regurgitation of the same old crap and doesn't get to the root of the issue.

Let's keep Trueman where he is, for however long it takes to put together a new team, and allow us to start a rebuild ahead of next season.

If Scally is the worst, where do you rank ours? Genuine question as if you have the knowledge to make such a statement you must have a ranking for ours.

The stats put ours below Scally.

The logic says that a manager needs to be given time to build a team capable of being competitive. It should have been Adams but he literally talked himself out of a job. Sparks doesn't help matters with the stuff he comes out with and his decision making that affects on field progress has been been too much swap and change. One minute we have a recruitment director, then we employ a manager who wants full control so he gets rid of one to please the other. If he believed in the role of a recruitment director then he should have employed a manager that was happy with that set up. As it is because of this indecision we are back to square one again. This is Sparks last chance saloon, he gets this appointment wrong and swaps and changes again his reputation is in tatters.

Our Chairman employs someone else to make the decisions. Scally is full on. However, your point is a fair one - illustrating why Evans can't be ruled out.

I should have said "worst in L1" and will be correcting

He employs them so the book stops with him.

You are right about worst chairman in league 1, is ours worst in league 2?

Totally agree. I actually think Sparks is a smart cookie, but you have to question what's smart about getting rid of a manager, without a better one lined up.

Poor Trueman sounded like a little boy who'd been trusted to housesit - but had been conned to opening the door and the home got burgled.

    It's stockholm syndrome.

They act like Rahic bought us, messed us up, then Rupp swooped in, kicked him out and pumped billions into us.

Rupp and Rahic were a duo. They fecked us up, so we did what we could to oust ONE of them. Rupp threw Rahic under the bus to take away all the blame. Funny how we got rid of Rahic but it did nothing to change our trajectory...

They say Rupp stuck by us but that's because he wanted to recoup some of the money he lost in the relegation season and refused to sell. He doesn't give a feck about the club.

This is the reason why millions is spent on PR. Some gullible gits have clearly fallen for it.

Regarding Steve Evans, I don't see what's so appealing about him and why wait until the summer to build something when the seasons over now

No. Adams was given money and initial support, i.e. have his own scouts. Rupp also put in a new structure after advice from Rhodes. Sparks has only been in the role for 15 months, which is nothing.

I'm not certain ours is anywhere near the worst. I'd argue that over the last few years, Walsall, Scunthorpe, Carlisle and Oldham's are worse than ours and that's just four clubs from memory.

There's a danger of fans wanting to throw the baby out with the bath water. First we need someone to have cajones to back a manager for longer than 30 to 40 matches

From what I’ve heard Scally takes more out of the club than our owner and has regular trips to the US, Dubai, etc as investment meetings which are basically jollies and funded by the club

I'd say his knowledge of how to run a club is better than Rupp. That experience has often got him to perhaps unfairly sack a manager but the club still survived relegation.

But that masks the points you made. He's always come across as an odious character - totally in it for himself.

Your last paragraph is on those at the top, you seem to be averse to criticising Rupp maybe a trip to the non league will change your opinion.

As for being well backed, we have 3 scouts and dismantled the previous structure I.e Turnbull and his scouts so probably actually saved money there. If Rupps backing gives you the likes of Robinson and Lavary plus others then id hate too see what not being backed looks like. Although Sparks has already declared us self sustaining which means Rupp doesn’t back us with a penny.

Aye he’s not an owner to aspire to, yet runs a smaller club still above us in the pyramid.

Adams brought 17 players in. The quality can be questioned, but the backing - relative to most other L2 clubs can't.
