I get your point but he can sell it now but he won't get back his original purchase price, he has got to realise and he's no fool what position our club was in before he purchased, we're miles away from even being league two play off contenders unfortunately.

Like Jewell said, we have no long term vision.

I look at the list of managers and just keep on coming back to the same thing - will any of those managers in the betting shortlist perform with a cheap budget, a distant owner & a club that has no real direction/footballing identity?

Think the most important thing that we do between now and the summer is look to hire a Director of Football, keeping Trueman in charge until the Director of Football has come in and identified his preferred manager based on his footballing philosophies. I think this hire will be good for Sparks too, he can focus on what he's good at which is the commercial side of things whilst leaving the Footballing side to an expert.

If not, we're going to be in a manager merry-go-round (I suppose we already are) - chopping and changing them, players & footballing philosophies every 6-12 months.

 

Truman stays in charge until the new manager comes in……He’s been part of the problem, either with Sellars or Adams since Dec28th 2020. Enough is enough.

Remember the leagues managers soon sussed his way of playing within a dozen games and we are no better off. Adams style just perpetuated it?

Whilst I sort of agree, I'm just saying let him stay in charge till the end of the season as a stop gap until we find the right Director of Football and then until he finds the right manager.

The manager that DoF then brings in should then be able to bring in all his own men, with Trueman going back to the youth or moving on if needs be - none of this 'You have to keep Trueman as your assistant' as we looked to have done with Drury in the past and then seemed to have done with Trueman & Adams. So yeah, we need a fresh start but he's the best stop gap option we have for now - unless we managed to convince Warnock to do us a favour for half a season.

Debatable Dave, big crowds, big expectations, and not matched by a big budget.

It’s not a dream job more a great opportunity with a track records of potential hiding to nothing.

Even Parky needed to fall lucky on a million plus pound striker to compliment his grafters. The new guy has one heck of a job to put back to back wins on the board but I do feel this squad has a lot more to give especially now that dour killjoy Adams is out of the building.

 

Always an excuse with you! I don’t think Adams walked round covering his eyes and ears, are you are alluding to him being a weak character. He was not the biggest part of the problem and appears to have his heart in the right place.

 

Honestly doubt we will see a DoF?

 

And, does that prove my point wrong? Nostalga needs to take a back seat , sick to death of it. We are where we are because he’s played a huge part in it , irrespective of the first dozen games. I don’t buy this rubbish about being “saved” because you know as well as I do that’s unprovable, either way.
Should he have got the job full time , yes of course, it didn’t work, unless one likes mid table mediocrity . Remember why Adams kept him on as coach?

Absolutely this. Remember as well that Bowyer had to make the choice between an assistant or a player!
One thing that was buried in amongst the usual sound bites and clichés the other night was that Sparks did say they need to make sure the new manager has the right structure around them that they need to do their job. Maybe, just maybe (hopefully), the penny is finally starting to drop.

 

You are unlikely to develop a long term identity unless the owner/CEO develop a plan for the club and have a long term manager to implement it,

 

Ryan Sparks has brought in heads of departments in other parts of the club which is proving successful and in the interview he gave this week he said they were looking for as well as the manager but the structure around him so that could well be the route. But there have been many examples of failure as well as success doing it this way it’s no panacea. For all the platitudes fans of football are not known for patience. And the more cogs there are in the wheel the more room there is for disagreements and fall outs.

 

Finally?this is Sparks first full season
