It just read like a load of hot air to me. I get what he's done putting Trueman in charge and I think he'll get it to the end of the season. Then look for another manager in the summer. But that piece in the T and A, he's trying to put it all in a positive spin when in reality we are up schitt creek without a paddle and a lot of it is his doing.

This question would be a lot easier to answer if let's say for example, an extremely experienced manager close to retiring had publicly stated this week that they would be up for taking on one last job until the end of the season, even at league 2 level.....

I'd not appoint Trueman. This needs a proper, long term plan, led and supported properly by Rupp/Sparks. Its not what we'll get though.

In the summer, we rightly decided that whilst Trueman had done a good job of preventing relegation last season, he wasn't ready for the role fulltime. He needs to develop and learn, and could be an option for the future. Are we now expected to believe that 8 months 'learning' under Adams, a managers who'd had to be sacked after those 8 months, has matured his development to the point of being ready...? Not for me. For once, lets get this appointment right. Trueman would be a disaster. And lets not kids ourselves, if we get this appointment wrong, we could very easily go down over the next 18 months. And that would kill this club.

We've already got an owner who has no interest in or knowledge of how to run a football club, a naive and out of his depth (when it comes to the football side of things) CEO, the very last thing we need is a rookie manager who quickly got found out the last time he was given the job. It would be complete and utter madness to give Trueman the job full time, but would I be surprised to see it happen? Not in the slightest.

It's a bit naff that Sky Bet, Paddy Power and Bet Fair dont do odds on lower league managers anymore. They ran none for Walsall or even Aberdeen for a SPL side is a bit crap. We're still on William Hill and Bet Victor.

No huge shifts in price 24 hours later. McCann still favourite but has gone from 5/2 to 10/3. Evans staying at 4/1. Trueman slid slightly from 5/1 to 6/1. Woodgate the biggest shift from when i checked last night, he was 40/1 on WH around tea time, now 20/1. Still miles off, but someone probably bobbed a pound on him. With this being a very small market with not many people actually going to bet on it, usually chucking a fiver on someone makes them fly up the list.

I think Lee Johnson's odds have shortened since yesterday morning, currently showing 8/1

Yeah looks that way. He's back to 10/1 on WH but 8/1 on BV. Think he floated between 8-12/1 at times yesterday. Wouldn't say no.

Trueman's not the answer and Andy K needs to return to Radio Leeds punditry once the new manager is installed.

I wonder if he’s be willing to manage until the season end and then step up stairs part time?

Agreed on the initial point, I got the same feeling that Sparks' plan was to stick with Adams for the full duration of his three year deal, then Trueman would be ready to take it on after that. Obviously this hasn't worked out. Trueman (albeit with Sellars) has shown that he can get the best out of players like Cooke, Watt, Sutton as well as giving young players a go so its as good a temporary measure as anything else.

I suspect that Sparks is trying to buy himself some time with the comments in the T&A today. There obviously isn't anyone in mind so he's keen to enter into an interview process so needs fans on board with Trueman to take the heat off that process.

As for the next manager - we keep talking about a lack of identity at Bradford City, but one small positive over recent years has been some decent young players. Sparks has to be looking at a manager who is willing to try and get the best out of the core of bright younger players that we have, rather than adopting yet another full reset. Yes we know that players like Robinson, Lavery etc will probably be gone at the end of the season. But we have a group of well-aged players that have their best years ahead of them: O'Connor, Cooke, Foulds, Vernam, Watt, Staunton, Sutton, FCD, Scales are all 25 or under. Moreover, we keep on hearing positive news from the youth team as well. So for me, one key thing I'd be looking at with the next manager is a desire to improve younger players and also a willing to bring through youth talent.

If sparks is once again left in charge of recruitment and he does prefer the cheaper option of keeping Trueman then how on earth does he sell next campaign's season tickets?

That’s a poor response Jon. There’s massive improvement needed in how we are run as a club and I’m certainly not one for sacking managers at rate we have been doing. However, Derek Adams was clearly taking us nowhere and alienating the fan base to a dangerous level. I’ll have a good day at Oldham and have a few beers while you play your opinionated keyboard warrior games.

It was all about developing the youth and having a head of recruitment in place not that long ago - that was the 'direction'. Then Adams arrived and the 'direction' changed, but that was OK because every single person at the club bought into it, from the top down to the groundsmen and tea lady. I know this because Sparks said so as recently as the end of January on the Hard Truth podcast. Now we are being told that we are going in a different 'direction'. I don't know how the groundsmen and tea lady are feeling right now, but I'm a bit dizzy.
