True, but they rarely actually get to take over, which Trueman won't this time. Not sure what the OP wants ? Trueman is assistant manager, you sack a manager, you appoint the AM as caretaker and you start the search.

Whats the alternative ? Mick in the ticket office or Yann Songo'o

Mark is ideal for a temporary role until a permanent manager is found, he knows the players, they know him.
However, the danger lies (as bizarre as it sounds) is if we have a quick upturn in fortunes, and the club sees fit to offer him a contract. Because once the results go flat again very much in parlance with when he and Scott took over last season, we're again looking at change.
The last few games of last season were just as banal as what we've endured this season.

    On another but related point
We've tried experienced managers at this level and slightly above, we've tried the old legend coming back, we've tried rookie managers. All to no avail.
New managers to a large degree are a bit of a lottery, no matter what level or size of the club, nothing is guaranteed.

Let's look at a player manager with his own choice of strong assistant, we've had fairly good levels of success in previous years using this method.
Not only do we get a manager in with fire in his belly, cutting his teeth in the chosen way he wants to go. We get all the experience thrown in of a Cherry, McFarland on the pitch for the players to look to, and kick arse when needed.

Don't think he would have had much influence under Adams.

Why not? Until we put in place a permanent replacement for Adams. It's only a temporary appointment.

1 point out of 21 for the last 7 games of the season.

He could not sustain the honeymoon 'new manager bounce' - 2 goals from 630 minutes of football in that period making Adams look like Pep. A short term stop gap, but nothing more.

We'll get a reaction from the players who downed tools against Adams against Oldham. And then people with short memories will start to talk about him continuing the role.

He has been No. 2 to Adams and seemingly gets off scot-free.

    Time for a new direction.

I said at the time, we went through a spell of scoring worldies. Overhead kicks, stuff flying in from 25 yards etc.
You aren't going to score those types of goals every week and they dried up.

Well hopefully he’s learnt what not to do under Adams. We’ll also see if it was he or Sellars that prompted the intial good run

This is what I didn’t get about people saying Adams’ football was the worst they’d ever seen at City. It was terrible yes, but I only have to go back 10 months to worse. We weren’t even creating a chance in most of them games, short memories. I hope Trueman retains a role in the club for keeping us up and he did a good job with the academy when there. But nothing else.

My observation is that Trueman plays a similar style to Adams.
4-2-3-1, defend deep and choose your moments to attack and try to nick a goal.

The only difference seemed to be that Trueman wanted to bring through FCD, Scales and Staunton and Adams wanted experienced players.

I think people have short memories of how much trouble we were in when they took over and because of a poor finish they didn’t get the plaudits they deserved hopefully in the short term he is in place he can show the lessons learned from that

    Exactly this.
This idea that the club are somehow forever indebted to him because of what happened last season is ridiculous and dangerous. Of course we all appreciate what he and Sellars did last season, that goes without saying, and Trueman will rightly get recognition for that in his own right on Saturday I'm sure. However, whatever decision is made about the next permanent manager needs to be taken in the best interest of Bradford City, not in the best interest of Mark Trueman.

    100% and it’s not. He’s not ready.

Can have an owner that’s doesn’t care. A novice CEO and a novice football manager. It won’t work!

I don't want Stuart back but could he have done any worse than Adams, as we said last time the next appointment has got to be right.

I’d live with that scenario Wilsden, but whichever style the new manager operates under, the entire club should do the same from junior ranks upwards.
