As Adams prefers to play in the oppositions half Elliot provides a more direct route of getting there ,holding the ball up and bringing others into play

To be fair I could come on against our lot and look worryingly decent.

How do you know their offer to buy the club , came anywhere near Rupp's valuation It could have been a couple of stein's of larger and a hot dog. Would you sell part of your business portfolio , undervalued, just because some people do not like the way you want it run.
Welcome to the club Tom , big lad that hopefully takes the weight of Andy Cook.
Just needs the midfielders to pick up on any carnage he creates in opposing defence's and find their shooting boots.

So we can't compete with Rochdale and we should be happy with our lot? Tinpot club with seemingly tinpot fans.

Charman would have been worth the punt at 41k, invest in chances and more will work out than not.

It's such a difficult job running a football club that we're being left behind by the likes of Harrogate, Salford, Sutton, Tranmere, the list goes on. You're telling me these are bigger clubs that we can't compete with? Bollocks

If you're content with fighting it out at the arse end of league 2 then feel free, but after 22 years supporting this club I for one would like to see a little fecking ambition from the club and it's fans

Happy to be proved wrong but this simply screams 'stocking filler.' It highlights our lack of ambition to really achieve, by not going out and buying the best of what's on offer to really improve our squad. He might be ok, he might not. It's simply a safe, steady signing. It does however highlight the fact that Rupp/Sparks do want to do this pn the cheap. I very much doubt we'll be anywhere near zchiebing the objective set out at the beginning of the season. Another year of treading water. Mid table finish chaps

Whether we were in for Charman or not, many are completely forgetting that the player also has a say in where his career goes. If you are a non-league striker like Charman, I am not remotely surprised that if you had the choice between joining us or Rochdale that you would choose the latter. Rochdale might not be the most attractive in the short term, but in terms of career progression, Rochdale have a much better record of giving strikers games and moving them upwards through the leagues. Beesley is the latest of Baah (Watford), Tavares (Coventry), Humphreys (Wigan) - and that's just the last 18 months or so and focussing on strikers alone.

Off the top of my head, I can think of maybe two strikers that have left Bradford City in the last 10 years and joined a team at least a division higher (Wells & McBurnie - nearly included Wyke but Sunderland were in the same league when he left). You can pin a number of reasons for that, we either lose patience with strikers and ditch them into the reserves. Or we lose patience with the manager that brought them in and the new manager ditches said striker into the reserves.

Please explain why Matt Smith is significantly better than Tom Elliott because I can't see it ? Why not wait until he's at least played for us before assuming that Salford got rid because he's rubbish and not just got rid because they needed the budget and Bowyer wanted his own man ?

Carlisle fans though Nahki Wells was rubbish.

I have a mad idea. We still have lots of width with our wingers if Grizzly uses them. We also now have two great headers of the ball so any crosses or long balls in will be met either by Elliot or Cook. Cook will feed off the scarps and score more than he misses. I think it may work...sorry I hope...... but pretty confident. Walker can relax and do what he does best roam and pick off the scraps... we shall see

Is it any wonder that we never sign "decent" players. Their agents tell them of the interest, they take one look on here and the T&A page and say, no thanks that clubs fans are poison.

Have a look at the highlights on the vid City have put out. Yes, highlights are best bits. But he’s a strong, powerful unit that gives us another option we haven’t had.

i’d love an Agard type signing next. It’s wishful thinking and we’ve used all of our loans now? But if we can move O’Donnell on - the T n A article last night surely suggests he’s off - maybe that gives us room to offer a better package and get someone in. We’ll see.

That would have been a fair comment if he hadnt just signed Matt Smith

We have 3 more loan spots left as the maximum at the club is 8, However you can only include any 5 in the match day squad for each game

Any striker is a gamble. Bobby was the biggest, John Hawley was a gamble, Nahki Wells a massive gamble. For those who are writing Elliott off before seeing him play IN our team rather than in Salford's, just take a quick look at Cole Stocktons stats before last season (and this), and consider how many were wanting to sign him on the back of one good season at Morecambe.

One things for sure, this piece of the jigsaw fits a damn sight better than Austin Samuels did, a player who had he been at NPL level would probably have scored a bucket load.

A great point and mirrors what I said to Bronco in conversation last week. Rochdale have a decent hit rate in terms of developing strikers they bring to the club. It's not really what we do. Also Charman would realise he's a straight swap for Beezley and is a perfect fit for the way the manager wants to play.
