Law was very underated at VP, his ability to carry the ball into the opponents half was excellent. Very good at ball retention but was harshly judged on his end product.

Good question. Law was a better all round footballer although there are.l similarities to their game. Law could dominate around the middle of the park and fit in very well with McCall wanted from his team. I think Gilliead suffers with not really having a proper role, he can carry the ball and showed on Saturday he has an eye for a pass.

Law was very good at what he did. Gillehead not sure but every time he played for Scunny along with Eisa always looked great against us. A bit like Ogrady. We can always make a player look rubbish.

Just been reading about Everton’s new signing from Rangers. The article addressed why he’s played so few games, and the reason is because Rangers captain James Tavernier plays in the same position and is so good. Certainly he’s got impressive stats, I recognised the name but didn’t really know much about him, so turned to Wiki and found out he’s born in Bradford and started off at Farsley Celtic. Well I never. Another local lad done good. I fully expect him to rock up on a free “a la Clayton” when he’s approaching 40.

Totally agree. Formation talk from fans is usually bollocks, anyway.Never played or coached to any level so don't understand that whatever formation you might start a game with, you'll change and permeate throughout the match to get advantage on the opposition.

Nicky Law both created goals and scored goals, thus affecting the games he played in.

Apart from that though, there was very little difference.

Hmm, account began yesterday, tweets poorly written and nonsensical....

Struggling to find any credibility in that account.

Are you sure you have the right Nathan Patterson?. He's been with Rangers for 13 years (so since he was about 8) and was born in Glasgow

Parky was getting towards the end of his shelf life at city. Despite promotions cup runs and continuous improvement up the pyramid it was not sufficient for some. Understand some of the football was one dimensional at times but he played to our strengths when he had to. If we didn’t have the personnel he would limit where we could go wrong but he could set a team up got everyone to buy into it and brought Some success along the way. Sadly people always assume a better option exists and maybe it does but you need to be sure when you move in another direction. We’ve gone backwards virtually ever since. To be frank if we hadn’t had such a revolving door of managers and appalling results previously then Adams would have been toast by now as the results and product served up has been largely tripe so far. Him getting time is as much to do with our boards inability to select and back a manager to take us forwards over recent seasons as his football. Right man right time? Maybe. But for me lucky to be in the role. And with Parky you could understand the plan. With Adams I do not.

Benn looks like a good prospect but we have our own prospect in that position if and when we sign a right back it needs to be an experienced one. Unless of course anybody is leaving

Getting time?he hasn’t had half a season. He has had one transfer window. I have been critical of him and his abrasive manner and some of his decisions but he is a proven manager at this level and it would be utter folly to get rid now

Agreed, and also, I don't think anyone could see Parkinson's plan in that first season.

Terrible loan signings, mismatched tactics, it really didn't get better right away much less after 6 months.

But after 18 months, it was very definitely going right.

There's just a colossal difference between giving a manager (having proven he can get a club promoted) 6 months and giving him 18 months. Just absolutely colossal.

In the past I’ve been on the let’s sack the manager and things will improve bandwagon, under Rupp that has literally never happened so history dictates it wouldn’t happen getting rid of Adams. The only successful season we’ve had under Rupp although we had a new manager many of the ex managers core players were still here.

The lesson from this? A manager needs time to actually build a core squad of players, even Fergie got nowhere near every signing right to write someone off after 6 months is sheer madness and blind to what’s gone before. It shows just how many people don’t learn from history even though it’s a huge part of human evolution to look back and improve going forward as to not keep repeating the same mistakes.

I think under Stuart when we were losing game after game after game it just made sense. Sir Stuart never was able to turn around horrible form, and just ended up looking depressed by it all on more than one occasion at City. I think under Bowyer it also made sense, because the fans had turned on him in a serious way. It was Carlisle away, ironically given that it's the next fixture, that effectively ended his chances of staying on. It wasn't that we were doing that badly, it was just a resounding 'no' from City fans, and after that you're just peeing in the wind.

None of that is the case here with Adams, we aren't losing many, we're hard to beat, it's been very frustrating, but actually the focus is on the squad not being good enough while performances themselves have been good enough to highlight that we've had some serious weaknesses particularly in our finishing.

Frustration, yes, but I don't see anyone really gnashing their teeth at Derek just yet. Ryan sold us wolf tickets, but you know what, I was buying that ticket no matter what the lad said so I actually don't feel that aggrieved.

Anyway. We've a long way to go, but I wouldn't sack Adams this season unless, say, we dropped to 20th or below.

The wording of the post threw me. It is James Tavernier who was born in Bradford https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Tavernier I could see that his younger brother was born in Leeds and that James was originally with Farsley and then went to HellHound Road. So seems rather a tenuous Bradford connection.
