The goalie was definitely bothered by something.
After the final whistle he was walking towards the tunnel and he seemed as he couldn’t turn his head and was holding his neck.
He was definitely sulking as he nearly got to the tunnel before realising he had to go over to his supporters.
Wife said same as someone posted earlier that he looked so disinterested all second half like he wanted to be somewhere else.

No bigger call than in the first minute, it was a nailed on penalty, I watch Quest this morning and not one Oldham player contested the call most holding their heads knowing that stupid challenge had cost them the game.
To the referees credit he was in a great position to see the tackle and had no hesitation in immediately pointing to the spot, we got out of jail but should have had the game won before the 94 minute.

Yup, fair enough. That was the one time when Cook did win a clean header and direct it to one of our players, and a goal was the result.
Hopefully Cook won't be beaten in the air so often by most other CBs and we will see a lot more of that sort of productive interaction between him and Angol. If so, they could develop into a good forward partnership.

Angol has shown Eisa the way forward , I’m very impressed with his attitude Dave, Eisa has to prove it now, as they are both competing for the same spot.

After just seeing him in that cameo against Avenue I thought Angol was a shrewd recruit, now I’m more convinced. Goalie flapping or not yesterday, even after all those near misses he’s had previously, he wasn’t frightened to have a pop.
    It paid off.

I like the lad …a lot. In that interview yesterday he came across as grateful for the chance he has been given . Come what may as the season gets going we will see if he’s worth a year adding to his contract.

Because our first choice midfield was out injured. It would have been very different with Songo'o and Sutton available.[/QUOTE]

Please. Sutton is pants and we haven’t seen Songo’o play for us so we don’t know.

Take the match for how it was. We were poor.

So the question about yesterday was did we play well?? I watched game yesterday and left with a different view to some. Some saying played well as for me thought poor couldn’t understand how people thought played well we kept booting ball upfield cook knock down and then lose possession again. Yes we broke well and gilly and vernam when came on looked ace racing forward and had some decent chances. But that was when we had the ball. I guess I’m
Going to have to get use to the pass and move concept of last year has gone and having vast amounts of possession has gone too. Ah well it worked for the shrimps I guess

Midfield was our weak link yesterday, Cooke can’t do it on his own.

I said yesterday, he was trying to make the game about him…The “ref with the pecs”

He was poor in many respects.

It’s football, injuries happen, irrespective how good your back room staff are. Ask Van Dyke?

His finishing his poor….Are you for real? He scored twice and won the game for us. He’s a L1 player no better, Messi passed us by. Get some perspective eh?

Don’t know if you watch MOTD last night or this morning but it’s seems clear that all the refs have been told to let things go this season and it has to be a real foul for a pen or to cancel a goal.

That would of been a pen last season but 100% not this.

Keep up with the rules of the game.

All penalty calls are big calls. He got the big call right, that's my point.

Kevin...you can't surely think his finishing is good if he doesn't hit the target can you? He lashed a chance over the bar yesterday and did the same vs Exeter. He scored 2 goals, yes, but his penalty was poor & his shot that he did get on target went through the keeper.

He's got a good all round game he's just a poor finisher, that's really not hard to see.

He certainly did, as I posted he was in a great position to make the call for a penalty, I would have expected he would have made the same call if if had been a similar challenge from Cousin-Dawson, with it being in favour of the home team might have helped but he didn't stop and think fof a few seconds he saw the challenge and pointed straight to the spot.

There is also a difference between players pulling up with injuries (as happened a lot last year) and players receiving an injury as a result of the actions of another player. I don't know how Songo's injury happened but Threlkeld, Sutton and Evans injuries were all due to the latter and are not things the back room staff can do a lot about, regardless of how good they are.

I didn't think you could class a merc as top class.
It's hard to win a header when the CB has his arms around your neck dragging you backwards.Cook didn't get a foul all game even though it was obvious to see and the ref should have clamped down on it from the off.

He is always getting into good position and making chances for himself like the one that just flashed by the post. If he keeps doing that yes he will miss plenty but he will score a few as well.
With his all round game if he was a natural finisher he wouldn’t be playing for us

The offside rule for one - now level is certainly onside.

Accidentally handing the ball won’t stop a goal.

Fouls in the box have to be blatant. Little pushes won’t be classed as a foul in the box.
