He's absolutely a top player, but we've got one top #9 in Cook and there were several players with better chance conversion rates than Mullen last year (including Cook, Novak, Vaughan, Danny Johnson, Jake Young, Elijah Adebayo) - I'd argue without Wes Hoolahan (and a team clicking, as you mention) his numbers wouldn't have been as astronomic; he's obviously in a position now to cash in on that success and will be interesting to watch next year in National League - I'm still glad he won't be facing City twice!

Looks from pre-season thus far like we're planning to play with a single striker anyway, so we don't necessarily need another top forward IMO... if Cook stays healthy!

 

Some cannot help looking backwards and agree we have had some very poor loan signings in the past but they were usually signed by very poor managers, I suspect if Adams brings one in it will be one worth having,

We had a big centre forward on loan a few years ago who’s name escapes me got derided a bit but had a good career. We had another who also did well who played for Preston and teams in Scotland Lous moult

 

Oh no not blaming him, that’s the way it works….. Honestly it says to me he has not a jot of confidence in going up a level or two?

 

As we all do. Can’t blame players at our level chasing the best wage they can get.
