You may be right. However, if Adams has a system in mind that doesn't exploit Mcaleny's attributes, why should either he or the club bother with a deal? For football entertainment, I can't deny that I'd be happy to have him at VP, but what's the point in having someone who's frustrated. We've had too many of those people in the past.

 

I can see us waiting now for the right striker to come available for loan from a higher league, leeds again wouldn't surprise me

 

Don't think that his signing for Salford changes our situation.

 

Apart from Paudie, the Leeds loanees have been a bit duff.

I really thought it would be a hot bed for us, but Stevens and Hosannah were bleh.

 

We have no idea if he was one of our targets or not. I'm merely pointing out that there is precious little else that would attract a player to choose to sign for Salford.

 

I don't know, teams like Salford receive an undue amount of publicity and draw interest simply due to who's running them.

It's not the worst idea for a lower league journeyman like McAleny to plump for the most visible club.

Apart from Hladky going to Ipswich, though, they haven't really been able to move players on to significantly bigger or better things, which is a bit of a failure IMO.

 

Hosannah before his injury was very good I was hoping he would be back this tine

 

I remember him being good at running forwards, but as a right back I can't remember him being a good defender.

 

He was decent all round and played well Also when played on the wing

 

I agree, it is a bit of a failure and I'm not convinced they draw as much interest these days as they did when they first entered the league as the novelty value seems to have worn off a bit. They do seem to be signing quite a few players for their development squad though, so maybe they will start to move players on to better things in the near future.

 

Anyway, inexplicably missing three quarters of a season just isn't my bag.

Hopefully if they lend us another young 'un, they're not only better than Hosannah and Stevens, but actually able to play football.

 

Nobody was a good defender in that McCall team in all fairness. I would certainly have taken him back but there's no room for him now and I don't think he's an Adams type player anyway.

 

Mcaleney was always about £ this way doesn’t have to move house and probably sit on extra 3 grand a week. What no other team in this league can offer. If Salford are stupid enough to do that Chuck money at people then just hope the don’t succeed again. Then again bought some crap too Lund was quality two years ago

 

I dont blame McAleny chasing the money. Its a short expiry date and these lower league players dont make huge money. Gotta grab as much as you can because it stops in your early/mid 30s.

Matty Lund is a decent signing too. Has more than a few goals in him. Id have taken him at City. Two good signings......

 

Their last years “project” , of “chuck money at it” failed to work, therefore fails to provided any evidence whatsoever, it will work this time either.

 

McAleny is a very good signing. Dont care what his wage is. He has goals in him.

Lund scored 1 in 3 last term, from CM in the league above.

Bowyer will be their downfall but they are giving him the tools.
