New Coach - Michael Collins

I admire the positivity and thinking.

The hard bit from our side is that Collins could have been appointed 6 weeks ago and been given an even better chance at being set up for success. Unfortunately Edin either didn't have the balls to do it straight away or didn't think he was good enough at first and went chasing others like a first timer in the red light district only to realise he had a hole in his pocket and all his copper coins had fallen through.

 

That line is comedy gold. Sometimes the first thing that people say is the most honest and this is a classic example. He's another - a guy hit my parked car a couple of months back. First thing he said when he got out of the car was - I was looking at the people not the cars!

Edin will be regretting that silly line for the next six months and that he didn't say something like 'we'd been talking for a month'. Blithering idiot showed his real thinking with that comment.

 

I doubt Edin regrets saying anything.

You may regret it on his behalf, but he won't even give it a second thought.

 

Ambitious appointment is this, fair play Edin ,don't know how you managed to get his signature. Onwards and upwards.

Bradford City AFC do not need to be appointing the likes of Collins (no idea who he is ?)who; if he was honest would be mighty lucky to get the Avenue job let alone the City one. Just a really really poor appointment; gone by Xmas and us fighting a relegation battle.

Given he and Stefan spent the last two weeks of the season making grovelling apologies and declaring they'd learned big lessons, you might be wrong there.

 

Based on edin's actions, do you honestly believe they meant it?

I don't, I don't think they care and will just continue doing things their way.

 

Good luck to Michael Collins, I hope we will be singing his name from the terraces next season on the back of some great performances. I haven't been able to listen to his interviews yet, but I understand they have been positive.
I have to say he and his two assistants look slightly embarrassed, bewildered, shell shocked and overwhelmed in the pictures I have seen of them so far though.
Edin, however, looks completely, calm and in control. Bit like a father figure ready to reassure and guide them on. Which is reassuring.
I've been wondering why, after sacking McCall, the board didn't just jump straight in with this model of having a team of 3 complete and utter novices (yes Abbo) in charge of first team affairs with the experienced Rahic quietly overseeing proceedings and gently guiding them from the wings. Why did they offer Grayson a 2 year contract when he certainly wouldn't have needed/wanted Rahic's experience and guidance? And then it dawned on me, we still have one or two seasoned pro's kicking around the club who need getting rid of, and maybe someone like Grayson would have been better at overseeing this. However, time without a coach has allowed Rahic to push ahead with recruiting a more manageable set of players who he can then hand over to the more manageable set of "coaches" to mould into the new model. It all makes sense to me now.

if they did not care about opinions why did Mr Rahic stop attending matches are McCall was sacked i can accept the odd family business matters/meetings but not all the fixtures.

If I was to guess, I'd probably go with more worried about his and maybe his families safety given the meltdown fans were having over the sacking.

His actions demonstrate he doesn't care, he will do what he thinks is best regardless of whether it is best or not. He will make unpopular decisions, something he said from the outset and boy does he like to make unpopular decisions. It's like he gets some kind of satisfaction from pissing other people off.

 

What's done is done. Let's hope Collins is able to attract or retain the players we need to ensure we don't have 10 defeats at home again this year. It was truly pants last year !!!

 

Well the example does show he cares no need to take the family with him. I agree he will take risks and make decisions that are not popular - indeed i acknowledged that this morning but he has got to be man enough to face the consequences - if they fail and go belly up - which has occurred - he has not shown a lot of bravery then.

I guess it depends on how you see things, he's still pushing ahead with his vision.

I'd say giving Collins a 3 year deal means Edin sees more potential in him than he did with Grayson or McCall as they got 2 year deals/offers. Whether that potential is to manipulate him or he actually believes he's a coach for the future and wants to give a young man a chance is something we will see over the coming months.

In all honesty, I'm looking forward to what happens not because I like the appointment and think it's the best one but because the drama this appointment is going to cause. If he he's a success, the fannies will get a bashing from the thoroughly nice chaps and vice versa. The meltdowns and everything over the next 11 months is going to be amazing and something I'm looking forward to and will embrace fully.
