Mr Park. I'm enjoying it yes, but you must agree, that perspective is important. Talk of promotion, the best January transfer window ever and all that?

I agree promotion is probably a step to far but I don’t think I can remember a better planned and executed January window the success of it will be judged over time

Key word in your statement is time. The bar we had going into this transfer window was very low. Some poor players and yes they have gone (well a few to go!) and we are building but it will take time...

I totaly get all that, what I will say and this is only my view is that this season is like no other, ryan sparks has had months now and not failed, Trueman and sellers the same in there time, the club have promised nothing for a change but given us everything, no promises of this and that, but actually gave more than we have had for years before, by that I mean, recruitment specialists, and a few more men behind the scenes taking on roles that is solely there job, letting to managers manage, and never putting any pressure on them, at the end of the day Trueman and sellers have nothing to loose, but saying that its a joint effort, sparks, Trueman, sellers, turnbull, the tea lady! Everyone is in it together, I just think its time everyone got on board now, its been months now not weeks, as for next season, why not concentrate on this one? We don't even know what league where going to be in, its gone for planning league 2 and national league to leauge 2 and league 1! Let's just roll with it and see where we are end of feb?

I certainly think promotion is exceptionally unlikely, if we finish 10th or above, it will have been a good second half to the season.
However the January window has been radical, a lot of players who have failed to ‘cut the mustard’ have gone and those who have replaced them are seen as potential significant improvements.
The management duo, and head of recruitment are down to the current CEO.
I think there is a lot more of a positive vibe to supporting City, than for a long time. City no longer comes over as a moribund organisation, slowly leeching away, but as a dynamic entity. Still a long way to go, but a damn sight more encouraging than up until the end on November.

To be fair, we've only really seen Rowe - otherwise that is pretty much all Stuart and/or Bowyer.

Do we now think that Stuart's recruitment was excellent?

Can I ask why you think promotion is unlikely? There is always one team that goes on a run in the second half of the season and makes the playoffs or automatic promotion, there is also 1 or 2 teams that fall from grace out if the top 6 or 7 places, the table is tight and if there's one season where we have a better chance of promotion its this one surley, teams are having to sell there assits which where gaining from, 1 in our squad and 2 in the fact there selling there best players, maybe im just a dreamer but I see this as our window

Yep agree with your comment, although we have seen cameo appearances from Stevens.

I think the ‘positive vibe’ is about the feeling of dynamism about the club, it is a holistic thing, rather than just the movement of players.

Interesting read, but the up dated version is 5 wins a 3 draws, the added variables are 5 goals in the last 2 games, danny rowe and now cook aswell, I don't know what your stats work out at if you use the last 3 games but im sure its better, also canavan is a variable, think he will replace A OC on Saturday so we will see what it does to the defensive stats but also add another aspect to goals scored , especially from set peaces which drastically needs working on, I carnt really knock your stats but would be interesting to see them with the variables iv added, also I think this season will be the lowest points total for years to win the leauge and also hand in hand get in the play offs, your thoughts?

That’s a bit of a false statement by you imo that one team always goes on a run and gets in the playoffs or promoted. From the relegation zone where we were in December I can literally only think on Barnsley(which wasn’t even in this league) that have gone on to get in the playoffs or better, a few get close but close isn’t enough. I agree with Dave promotion is getting far too carried away, win our next 4 or 5 and I might think differently. But we’ve got a lot of the top teams to come and I’d expect to drop points to a fair few of them, more than can be afforded if we were to get top 7. I’m just grateful non league now looks very unrealistic from a near deadcert not long ago, I’ll settle for that this season.

Dynamic? Or are we just resetting the wrongs of the past and doing the basics better? Agree, much more encouraging.

BTW, had to Google moribund... Never heard the word before

A follow on from @Bigrod@Bigrod but my assessment on a challenge for promotion.....
May I say, I thoroughly agree this season has been like no other..... We tragically got so many things wrong in the summer, prior to the start of the season. Why? A reset a third way through is very frustrating. Though right.

It could be a false ish statement, but there really is always 1 club that goes on a run, tbh they might just miss out, I'm only going off memory and false ish because it might not be every year some does it, you get the gist tho, iv done a couple of calculations and if we had played 27 games like oldham we would be on 40 points in 7th place i think, yes thats if won the 3 games and then teams around us would have a game or two in hand on us, but this is simplest way I can put it although the most extreme way, but this is why I can see us gatecrashing the playoffs

Think we have been doing what most league 1 or 2 clubs do but now where moving forward and acting like a big club that we should be

Also where in a better position club wise than most, not many managers in the lower leagues would be happy with a recruitment specialist and a CEO signing players for them, parky walked straight away when he heard something similar back in the day, and carnt see many other managers been onboard with it, I actually like it, and its what most premiere league clubs do now, not seen in the lower leagues very often tho, not to this extent anyway

Its a football forum my friend there are some who post for devilment you don't have to look far to see them, they are a minority and again as we get more positive with regards stuff on the pitch and off they post less and less.
Ryan has certainly gone about his new position in a very proactive way changing what would nornally be the status quo in the past.
I commented after hearing his first interview with Jamie Raynor hearing Ryan's comments I believed he'd got Stefan onside with the changes he wants to make for the better, long may we improve on and off the pitch, for once since season 2016/17 I believe the club are going forward.
